Advantages: Good Flavour, Texture and Taste

Disadvantages: Maybe a bit Fatty

Terry's Chocolate Orange is probably most famous in the form of a large chocolate orange which comes in a little gift box. If you've never heard of these, they're balls made up of loads of orange flavoured chocolate segments wrapped together in orange foil to look like an orange (as in the fruit). They traditionally come in milk or dark chocolate flavour (both orange of course!) and their motto these days is "don't tap it - whack it!" Strange you might think, but that's because they used to tell people to tap them to get the segments to separate but then they realised hardly anyone was managing to get the segments to come apart this way! So a good hard whack it is. Traditionally these are luxury chocolates that you give or receive at Christmas time or other special occasions as they're too big to eat as a normal chocolate treat. Prices vary drastically for this form as they're often on special offers in stores (like 3 for £5) at Christmas time.

The flavour is the same as the next version I'll tell you about - the little bars. You can buy these for everyday munching on from newsagents and supermarkets etc. The bars are made up of five or six segments all melted together (okay, it's probably a multiple segment mould but it LOOKS like they've been melted together) and they come in milk or dark orange flavour. They're a really sludgy, chocolaty goo sensation and the orange flavour is extremely prominent in both. My favourite is the dark version as the orange really compliments the bitter sweet dark chocolate they use in these bars. Because they're chocolate with no crispy bits or filling, it's a really thick and heavy flavour.

Finally you can get boxes of little segments now, they've been selling these for a few years now and I had a box at Christmas just gone. These are really nice and a brilliant variation on the normal ones. The little segments are all different flavours. You get the normal milk and dark segments but you also get ones with white chocolate, crunchy bits, cornflakes and crispy bits in - yum! They're all individually wrapped so the flavours don't get mixed with each other. My faves are probably the cornflakes ones as I can't think of any other sweet that tastes like it. You'd think chocolate orange cornflake pieces would be available in some other form but I can't think of any I've ever come across. I'm not sure what the prices of these boxes are at the minute as like I said, this is a brand that seems to vary its price regularly. I know the little bars are around 50p each now so in line with that price, I'd think you'd pay a middle of the road price for these in the supermarket (the same as Roses and Celebrations etc).

Terry's really do make a unique chocolate here. The chocolates are thick and heavy with the balance of the orange just right. The texture is really indulgent though I would imagine this is one heck of a fattening chocolate bar so not one to eat all the time! Five stars from me.

Summary: For Father's Day Please.
