Advantages: Not as sweet as jam ones
Disadvantages: fattening
Doughnuts are often the treats that people at work bring in when it's their birthday. It's easier than baking, fairly cheap and that way people can just grab one from the staff room table to stuff in their mouths before rushing back to the classroom.
These apple filled doughnuts are on offer at the moment 2 packs of 5 for a pound. The Jam and the custard filled ones are on this offer too. I think you can mix them for this offer.
These doughnuts are full of calories 845kJ (205kcal), lots of fat, lots of sugar. Still if you are going to eat a donut you would guess that.
Tesco can not guarantee these apple doughnuts nut free as they are made in a factory that uses nuts in other products.
These doughnuts are a round handful a golden brown, they have sugar sprinkled/ poured all over them. In fact there is usually too much sugar sprinkled on doughnuts. I shake the sugar into the bag.
Sometimes the apple puree is on the outside of the doughnut where the doughnut has been squashed / not properly sealed.
These doughnuts are soft and they taste good. There is a spoonful or 2 of the apple puree in the middle not too sweet, in general these are not as sweet as jam doughnuts. The apple is a light flavour.
They are quite filling and certainly give that sugar boost to help us get through the rest of the day's work.
Summary: Tesco dough nuts with apple puree in the centre
