“ Manufacturer: Tesco / Food Type: Pies „
I brought these because I'd done a stupid thing and gone shopping when I was starving and had had a couple of drinks in the pub opposite with my mate. It was a spur of the moment meet up at lunch time but neither of us had got the cash to buy something to eat in the pub! lol The Apple Puff Pies looked proper nice and when I saw that a pack of 4 was only 99p I put 2 packs in the trolley because I know my mum and dad love stuff like this too. They're a bit disappointing though and haven't got much flavour. The pastry isn't light like I thought it would be and has got a bit of a stodgy texture like it's been wet and dried again. The sugar that's on top is the best thing about it because they use massive granules of sugar and it stays sweet and crunchy in your mouth. The apple filling is naff as well. There are only about 4 little bits of apple in each pie and they don't taste all that fresh, the rest of the pie is filled with like an apple jam that's too sweet and tastes proper fake. It makes the pie feel too chewy and mixed with the pastry it meant that the pie just tastes weird and feels weird to eat as well. I don't know if i picked a couple of bad packs up but even if I did that just shows that the pies are not consistent enough to take a chance on. I didn't like them any way, I did eat 2 because they're not DISGUSTING and I didn't want to waste them but I deffo won't buy them again. I didn't try it like this but my dad had custard on the last one yesterday and he said that made them taste loads better, he said the pastry goes soggy though and that didn't bother him but it would be another thing that I wouldn't like about them. Not recommended... cheap and fake tasting!
