Premium Review Tesco Cherry Bakewell Tarts: I love a nice Tart!! (505 words)

Having quite a sweet tooth and a quite a large family, I am alaways looking for value goods. Please note I said value goods ie goods that are cheapish but also taste good too. Hence recently when in Tesco recently these little goodies caught my eye, and as my wife is a huge Bakewell Tart fan I thought I'd give them a go. The packet is red in colour with pictures of some Bakwell Tarts on the front. It also boasts that it is a New Recipe and has No Artificial Flavours or Colours. The box doesn't look anything special but as they say the 'proof is in the pudding' (I mean Tart), I thought I'd delve in and try them out. Upon opening the pack I was ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review These are definitely baked well! (497 words)

Whenever you hear 'cherry bakewell', the mind automatically connects with 'Mr Kipling'. There is no surprise either - he's a fantastic manufacturer! However he does not have a price tag to match. When I discovered the Tesco cherry bakewells at almost half the price of Mr Kipling's, I simply had to give them a try. Brand: Tesco Packaging: red cardboard box Appearance: round, white and red Taste: sweet Texture: sticky Price: 70p Availability: Tesco stores Although I do adore Mr Kipling, I am not a label snob, so I do not mind going for cheaper, less classy brands, which is why I was okay with settling for Tesco's option. ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Tesco Cherry Bakewell Tarts: They seemed so promising... (350 words)

I picked these up on the Tesco trip today because my boyfriend's coming this weekend and he doesn't like anything remotely healthy! Of course, I do't want to risk poisoning him so I had to snaffle one myself. The Cherry Bakewells come in a box of 6. Good quality but not excessive packaging, and I didn't realise at first that they weren't Mr Kipling. At 60 something pence, they are pretty good value for money, and far cheaper than branded ones. On opening the box, I noticed that they look exactly like premium brand cherry bakewells, and smell like them too - no complaints there. They are also about the same size, so you actually are ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Such A Tart! (526 words)
by - written on 02/02/09 (Very useful, 101 readings)

Last week I went to Bakewell for the day and I came home without a Bakewell Tart, the reason being that I would far rather have the mass produced Bakewell Tarts than the ones that are baked to the original recipe. Some of the tarts that are made by the independent bakers are sickeningly sweet even by my standards. Both of us are partial to a Tesco Bakewell tart, for a start they are better value than the Mr kipling variety, unless there is an exceedingly good offer on! Tesco have definitely pitched their packaging at the female shoppers, the tarts are dressed in a cardinal red box with pink accessories. To the right of the box there is a ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Tesco Cherry Bakewell Tarts: A tasty Snack. (231 words)

My Dad always seems to buy these and they really are quite nice! The bakewell tart is quite a rich cake, with a layer of jam in the middle, a thick white iced top and in the centre of the top, has one of those glaced cherrys. Some people really like them and some people don't, but personally I think Tesco are on to a very good product and they happen to be one of my favourites! One of the downsides is how rich they are, but I don't really think this is a unique point of the Tesco product, but rather an accurate factor of Bakewell tarts in general. Certainly it may be considered a good thing that tesco have been able to reproduce the real richness and still ...  Read the complete review
