Tesco do quite a selection of their own confectionary! They have a lot of cakes too, such as Cofee Cake, Lemon Drizzle cake and this - the Cherry Madeira cake. As soon as I saw it, I couldn't wait to try!

The cake comes in a clear packet with a little red lavel on the front. The label tells you the product you are getting, and has the main nutritional information stated on the front too. The clear packaging is handy since it allows you to see right into the cake. It was a pale brown colour with a golden brown outside. Through it there seemed to be a lot of red juicy looking cherries. It looked amazing!

When you first open the pack it does not have much of a scent. Slicing off a piece I popped it into my mouth. The sponge was quite chewy and was filled with a cherry flavour. The cherries themselves were mainly quite large and a little chewy, but not overly juicy. Though they did have a phenomenal cherry taste to them - quite sweet and tangy at the same time. It was definitely a delight for the taste buds!

As this is a cake it is not likely to be healthy! 1/8th of the pack contains 120 calories, which does not seem too bad. Though it is not a massive cake so you may end up having a large slice, or two 8ths! ALso it is quite moorish so I'd only go near it if you can afford to put on a few lbs or you have self control! Its not something to have every day but as a treat now and again it is great.

The cake costs you now just £1, down from around £1.30. It is a great price to pay and it livens up things when you have visitors over! For £1 you can serve them a delicious cake option to go with their cup of tea or coffee, and it may strike up a conversation too during any awkward silences! It definitely gives things a tasty lift.

This is a delicious cake and once you have tried it there is no going back. I am pleased I have tried it, despite the battle to resist temptation, and I am sure you will like it too!
