 ... Chestnuts, which were still crunchy. It was tastewise the same as the Sainsburies one. It made me wonder if they get them all from the same supplier. All in all a very disappointing dish. At least now I know not to waste my time with any other supermarket Chinese Food, as it now seems that they are all much of a muchness. If you really need a convenience food, go for curry or pasta, as these do travel well. Avoid Chinese like the plague!...more

From the offset I can honestly say that I have never had a nice pre-packaged Chinese meal. The whole thing bout Chinese food is that you eat it as soon as it is cooked, so the veg remains crunchy and the meat is nice and moist. This is unfortunately impossible when bought from a supermarket, as the shelf life on the item just means that the crunchy veg are soaking up the sauce as it waits for some poor, unsuspecting sod to pick it up and take it home. It is perfect for Indian curries, as the longer they marinade in the spicy juices, the better they get, but today we are talking Chinese. Tesco Chicken and Cashew Nuts (350g) I bought this meal from Tesco mainly because of the half price offer; I paid £1.44 only for it. It's a yummy Chinese meal, and as is written on the cover it's "ideal for Chinese New Year - year of the rat 7th February 2008." I find this sweet, but it's not the reason why I bought it really. I love Chicken and cashews, and also Chinese meals are awesome at times; they use such a unique mixture of flavours, and wonderful vegetables that I'm always interested in trying.
