Advantages: delicious, moreish and just plain yummy

Disadvantages: calorie count...to all those people out there on diets i'm sorry your reading this!

Yum….a Friday night alone in the house, just me my computer…oh and a chocolate brownie dessert... if you hadn’t already seen the product I’m review, you may have guessed where this review is going to go. Yes another food review. Well I can’t help it if I’m in the mood for trying out new food ideas that I have never come across before. So walking up to my nearest Tesco express, I decide to buy a cheesecake. But not any old cheesecake… a chocolate brownie cheesecake which I have never seen in my life before. Delicious. I can’t wait to tuck in now – see what I do for you lot out there? I wait around, reviewing the product before the taste test, so I can’t wait until then, but hey, time passes by very quickly.

The packaging

As always, I tell you people out there what I think of the packaging, and what you can look out for. This packaging is a plastic moulded box shape, with a label running from the top to the front. Inside, I can see that there are two slices of brown cheesecake staring back at me. My mouth is already drooling. On the label on top of the box, it tells me that it is suitable for vegetarians, suitable for home freezing, the display until dates (18th Jan which is giving me five days to eat anyway very good). It also has an intriguing picture of milk chocolate chunks and white chocolate flakes. Following the label round, on the side of the box, it gives me a brief description about what the food is. It tells me that there are two slices of cheesecake, the flavours in it and the toppings. Once again, my mouth is drooling. So far so good packaging wise in my books.

Alas! I have found that the label goes right round to the bottom of the see through plastic box, to seal the whole packaging together, and to also give me the nutritional information, freezing guidelines, ingredients, and the additional information such as the production place, and other tiny pieces of information stated at the bottom.

To open this whole box, you have to rip the label which I found a little tricky to do and I suggest using a pair of scissors to cut the label, at the bottom of the box. There’s a little flat piece sticking out at the bottom in which you hook a nail underneath and pull up the packaging to reveal no other than…..two slices of cheesecake smelling gorgeous and calling my name. Within this part of the packaging, there is also a little more plastic surrounding the cheesecakes so I am pleased that Tesco have done their best to keep these slices of indulgence fresh.

Taste, look and smell test

This is the best part about reviewing a food product…. The tasting test and the smell. The smell as you open up the clear box is wonderful and indulging. It makes you want to grab your spoon (or fork) and just eat the whole thing in one go). Now we move onto the look

The look of this baby is aright. It could be better presented, but it’s still screaming out to me ‘eat me, eat me!’ I can see that on the top, there are chocolate brownie chunks, two on each slice to be precise, white chocolate flakes, and then areas of milk chocolate sauce trickled over the top. Under this, I see a vanilla flavour cheesecake topping. After this layer, I then see a chocolate mouse type layer which I can only imagine to be another layer of cheesecake, but with chocolate instead of vanilla. After this layer, I then can reveal the chocolate digestive biscuit base…this is fattening me up even looking at it. I even spot a tiny malteaser type shape on the topping.

The taste is the next section and I’m sorry for putting you all through this next part, as I know you all may be on diets at this time of year, and I should be cutting down on my sugary intake, but every person in the world deserves a treat or two, and this just so happens to be my treat. Getting a teaspoon out of the draw, as the cheesecake may last longer this way, I tuck into my first bite…making sure I get all the layers on a spoon. An overpowering chocolate taste hits the tip of my tongue. Definitely moreish. A smooth cheesecake filling, yet a crunchy base makes this treat enjoyable and unpredictive. Definitely moreish and I’m going in for the second spoonful. The only thing with eating a few spoonfuls, is after the fifth, it starts to become sickly, and so then is the time to put it in the fridge for tomorrow night, which also spreads out the calorie count a little more.

Conclusion

I definitely recommend this cheesecake to anyone who likes cheesecake, loves chocolate, can stand a calorie fest, or spread it out between days like me, and doesn’t mind about things being sweet. This treat is available from most Tesco expresses and Tesco’s, from £1.69- £1.99 depending on which store you visit, and whether it’s on offer or not. It’s definitely delicious that’s for sure and wonderful in taste. Tesco have done a good job on this cheesecake!
