Advantages: Tasty, Affordable, Decent Quality

Disadvantages: Juice Can Go Everywhere

Tesco Cooked Beetroot Vacuum Pack costs 62p in Tesco, which I think is a fair price given the general cost of fruit and vegetables. Each packet has a weight of 250g, and though this usually means there are four beetroots in a packet, occasionally there have been just three really large ones in a packet when we've bought them.

Because this product is vacuum packed, it can be a bit tricky to get open. I'm not exactly sure why it's vacuum packed if I'm honest, but presumably this plays a part in the preservative side of things? They don't add anything to this product, it's just cooked beetroot on it's own, so if the vacuum packing is to avoid using artificial preservatives then I guess I'm in favour of that.

The only trouble with it is that it's tricky to get the beetroot out of the packet without making a mess. You have to slide in a knife ideally, and then pop a beetroot out of the corner of the packet. If you try to just cut the packet right open, you'll likely slice through the beetroot, and end up with juice gushing out while you're at it. So handle with care! Beetroot juice is a nuisance for staining things so you want to avoid spilling it really.

The taste of this stuff is pretty decent. There's nothing about this product that makes it special, as it literally just beetroot alone. But it's decent quality beetroot, and I've always felt that it has a good texture to it. It's nice and soft, with a good strong colour, and a mild standard beetroot flavour.

I think for the price, you can't go too far wrong with this. It's affordable, and it's free from junky additives even if it is a pain to get open. For storing this stuff, I recommend putting the open packet into a storage bag. That way if any juice does leak, it'll hit the sandwich bag and not your fridge.

Summary: Highly Recommended
