Advantages: creamy, wonderful ice cream
Disadvantages: a bit expensive, melts quickly
Well having done the sauce I thought I'd better do an ice cream.
This really is a very luxurious ice cream. The picture on the front of the tub is actually quite realistic. I would say that the description above is actually wrong. the product is not topped with nuts but is in fact topped with creamy fudge pieces. The base of the tub contains the caramel sauce so make sure that you take a scoop right down to the bottom when you serve it.
The fudge bits are sprinkled in two swirls on the top and there always seems to be a fight in our house over whoo has the most fudge bits, and that's me and my husband not the children!!! But they really are worth fighting over they are wonderfully creamy and really melt in the mouth.
I was a bit worried when I first bought this ice cream as the vanilla ice cream was a bit yellow and I was worried that it would be abit tasteless but once again this didn't disappoint and it was really creamy - almost like the devon cream ice cream that you used to have between wafers as a child.
One word of warning though - this is not the sort of ice cfream to get out of the freezer before you want to serve it. It is quite soft and does melt quite quicly once it is out of the freezer. It tends to cost around the £2 mark for a 1litre tub - so its not the cheapest ice cream but sometimes the range is on special offer at £3 for 2 tubs so I tend to stock up a bit then
Summary: A good alternative to carte d'or
