Advantages: tasty

Disadvantages: bad for you

You don't very often see a salad in our house without a generous dollop of coleslaw on the side. Over the years we have graduated from plain basic coleslaw pots to the creamy variety, sometimes throwing some cheese into the mix.
You can buy creamy coleslaw for approximately the same price for the same quantities in most of the major supermarkets. Tesco's version is our latest offering at the table purely because that's where we're doing most of our shopping at the moment.

The coleslaw comes in a clear pot so you can see what you are getting before you buy which is a plus point for me when I'm doing my shopping as I like to see the products I'm spending money on. Being a fresh product as well, it's good to see how healthy the coleslaw looks before taking it home and attempting to eat it. There is nothing worse than slightly off coleslaw that looks as though it's about to curdle at any minute.
Thankfully the Tesco version generally has about six or seven days before it'll be past it's best. Of course this doesn't mean it's not edible after this time, but I generally find that once you've opened this coleslaw you will want to eat it up within three days or so providing the date lasts that long.

The packaging is very basic, but all you really need is a pot with a secure lid and an airtight seal which helps keep the freshness of the food once opened. This particular pot is usually sealed around the lid with a layer of plastic which is easily removable when you want to open it.
Inside the pot the product looks quite chunky o first glance. We have eaten creamy coleslaws in the past that have shredded pieces of veg that seem to gel together, which mixed with the creaminess makes the coleslaw super tasty. This one has a more rustic appearance to it, almost more like a homemade version. It doesn't make it any less appetising though.

The pot will serve about four people for one meal if you dish out generous portions. In our house the pot never lasts much longer than one meal unless it's being used for sandwiches.
There is a lot of creamy appearance to the coleslaw which straight away tells me the products has been generously added with mayonnaise which of course creates the creamy texture for the coleslaw.

Flavour wise, the vegetables included which are carrots, cabbage, and onion, are quite chunky. The onion is quite strong in flavour but perhaps not so much in appearance, but the pieces of cabbage are perhaps a bit bigger than they could be, making the coleslaw one of the more chunky ones I have tried.
The flavours all gel well together and mixed with the mayonnaise it's a nice accompaniment to the salad or sandwich. I have found that a different brand carries more flavour for the same product, but it means travelling to another store and it's not always convenient.

The price is average compared to all other brands, and can often be found on offer especially in the summer months. Currently you can buy a 30g pot for 70p.
Per 100grams this coleslaw will provide you with 190 calories and 17.8 grams of fat. It makes it a very bad accompaniment to any salad if you're trying to be healthy so be careful how much you have.

Overall this is a nice average coleslaw but there are better ones out there for the price.

Summary: an average creamy coleslaw
