Advantages: its very nice

Disadvantages: high in calories. not as good as my own homemade coleslaw

One thing I always forget when preparing a salad at home is coleslaw. A recent visitor to my home who insisted on stocking my fridge by way of thank you picked up a pot of this creamy coleslaw.

The coleslaw consists of Cabbage, Carrot and Onion, Double Cream and Mayonnaise (amongst other things). 100g of creamy coleslaw typically contains 190kcals. A 300g pot is currently 62p at Tesco (or two pots for £1.20).

The coleslaw is very nice, creamy and surprisingly filling. It really brought my salads over the last couple of days to life, with the moistness of the mayonnaise making a dry salad something really tasty. I do find that coleslaw in general is very high in calories and that by making my own coleslaw at home I can save lots of calories. I do this by simply shredding carrota, cabbage and finely chopping a red onion and mixing in mayonnaise (very low fat) and a dollop of dijon mustard. I prefer my coleslaw over Tescos version, but it is very nice still.

If I was in need of coleslaw and was being lazy by not doing it myself I would buy this again, but it will not be a regular on my shopping list.
