I used to work in a Harvester Restaurant in Stoke on Trent, years and years ago, when I was in my teenage years and thats when I initially come across this potato product, Lattice Fries as they called them. Having a meal allowance there, everyone wanted these instead of chips and jacket potato, however it was the one thing that the didn't have on the menu for staff which was disappointing.

Ten years on, I hadn's had these since I worked at the Harvester and on a recent shopping trip to Tesco, I came across the CRispy Lattice Potato, which instantly bought them back to me and I thought they had got to be like the ones that I used to have back in the day so I popped a packet of them in my trolley to take home and try.

This product is a frozen product so you keep them in the freezer and cook them from frozen. I couldn't wait long to see if they tasted the same as the ones I had become addicted to years prior, so the same night, I got them out of the freezer and popped a tray full in the oven to snack on.

They are best oven cooked, on gas mark 7 for around 20 minutes, making sure that you keep turning them occasionally to make both side crispy as a lot of grease does come off them when you cook them obviously because they are cooked before they are frozen, and in some cases if you don't keep turning them, they stay a little soft and not as nice as when they are crispy. Ideally leave them in for 30 minutes and they are normally perfect depending on the way that your oven cooks.

The product comes in flat slices that are latticed, various sizes deoending of the size on the potato before they are turned intro lattices.

When cooked to my liking, I popped then on a plate and they smell a tiny little bit spicy, nothing too spicy, just a hint, and I couldn't wait to dig into them. They were exactly like what I was hoping for them to be like. They have the similar coating to spicy wedges if you have ever tasted them before, and are extrememly crispy when you bite into them, the outside coating crunches as you start to get to the inner potato.

I have only seen these available in Tesco, however Morrisons actually sell them cooked as single portion on their hot counter for around 75p a portion which they are making a killing on as you can buy a full bag from Tesco for just 99p and cook them yourself to yor own liking.
