Advantages: Sounds interesting

Disadvantages: Not very healthy, does not taste very nice

When I am out doing my shopping I am always on the look out for new little treats for my grandchildren. Last week I had my grandson with me when doing my shopping.

We had a long discussion about 'chocolate slippers'. I had no idea what he was talking about. He told me that one of his friend's had one in his packed lunch and it looked very yummy. I had no idea what he was talking about, but not wanting to look silly I asked him to find them as we walked round Tesco.

He scanned the shelves as I did my shopping and I must admit that it made a change from his constant chattering. And yes, he find them, much to his delight.

What he was looking for was Tesco Custard Slurpers.

They come in a cardboard packaging containing four of these snacks.

There are three flavours:

Chocolate
Vanilla
Strawberry

We chose the chocolate flavour. They come in a capri sun type packaging without the straw. The packaging is a brown, chocolate colour, with a picture of a cartoon cow on the front. It has a red screw top cap. It says on the front that it is a chocolate flavour smooth dairy snack.

Obviously when we got home I had to try one for myself. When I opened the red cap and had a sniff, I could smell the chocolate flavour. To taste the slurper I had to put the top of the pack into my mouth and squeeze the packet. The contents come out easily and the first taste I got was of the chocolate, which was quite nice. I then expected to get a nice taste of custard. This did not happen, instead I got a slightly watery taste. There was no creamy custard flavour at all. The consistancy is average, neither too thick or too thin.

I did not like the taste and was a bit disappointed. My grandson did not appear over fussed about his and did not finish it.

In each Slurper there is:

Calories 100
Protein 3g
Sugars 15g
Fat 3.1g
Salt Trace

It tells you on the pack that these are suitable for vegetarians. They are not suitable for children under 36 months, due to the small cap.

It does not say on the packaging that there are no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives. As this product is aimed at children I think this is a black mark to Tesco.

The pack containing four Slurpers cost £1.89.

They do not have to be kept in the fridge unless opened. They will keep for 24 hours in the fridge once opened.

I am very disappointed with this product and I am now on the look out for a healthier treat for my grandchildren.

I would consider this to be a very occassional treat, providing the kids liked it.

Summary: What sort of name is this to give a product anyway??

great review, perhaps a product from me to avoid giving the kids.
