Advantages: Great taste, bargain price, not overpowering spice.
Disadvantages: None
My other half and I decided to make a Mexican themed meal for tonight and therefore opted for Nachos & Fajitas as they were nice and easy and we are quite lazy on Saturday nights!
Within the kit we received 8 flour tortillas, spicy tomato salsa & fajita seasoning.
The flour tortillas are easily cooked on a plate in the microwave for 45-60 seconds (depending on the wattage) the tortillas are lovely and soft and easily to fold over when filled.
The spicy tomato salsa is for putting on top of your chicken before you fold the fajita. There is really nothing spicy about this salsa and I found it to be very pleasant. I am not normally a big lover of salsa but I found this to be mild enough for me to enjoy.
The fajita seasoning is also very mild and therefore very pleasant. I would usually use just half a packet for around 500g of chicken but on this occasion I used the whole amount and I did not find the taste to be overpowering at all although my eyes/chest were hurting a little when I was doing the actual cooking (no - I wasn't burning anything!).
This kit is currently available for 88p in Tesco stores (until 10/05/2009) and it's regular price is £1.99. I was very pleased with this bargain price when we did our shopping today and I thought that the whole meal was delicious. I usually buy an Old El Paso fajita kit but I enjoyed this just as much and it's currently around a third of the price so it's a fantastic way of saving some more money on my shopping. I would highly recommend the kit as it's very simple to cook and readily available in Tesco stores. I am rating this kit 5/5 as it's fantastic and the fajitas tasted gorgeous when I added some mayonnaise and grated cheese.
Summary: A highly recommend kit for making the most perfect Fajitas.
