Advantages: None

Disadvantages: expensive, too sweet

They say never to go shopping on an empty stomach and now I know why. Bypassing the salad aisle, I decided some cake would be nice. What can go better with cake than custard so in my typical impulsive way I bought some Tesco finest custard infused with vanilla. At £1.49 for a 500g tub, it is certainly one of the more expensive custards out there.

When I got home, I couldnt wait to have some cake and custard, so I poured some into a bowl ready to microwave. It is an incredibly pale thin custard with loads of flecks of vanilla running through it. It didn't have much of a smell to it.

When it had heated it through, I shoveled some into my mouth and what a disappointment! The taste of vanilla was hardly apparent at all and instead it had an incredibly insipid, overly sweet taste. It was very creamy and very thin, thin enough to run off a spoon not at all like I would expect custard to taste like.

I feel like I have been robbed! I could have got a tin of ambrosia for half the price and I would have felt guilty eating it but at least I wouldn't have left the rest of the tub in the fridge until it went off. I figured it was better to waste the money I had spent on the rest of the tub rather than consume loads of calories that I didn't even like!

Nutrition
======
A quarter of a tub contains a massive 295 calories, and loads of fat and sugar.

Summary
=======

Sometimes it is worth paying extra for finest products, but in this case it's best to stick to the regular product.

Summary: Dont go shopping on an empty stomach
