Advantages: taste very chocolatey, good price
Disadvantages: -
After recently having been informed that I need a few fillings, it has really made me worry about eating sweet things like chocolate and my addiction to fizzy drinks so I am trying to really lower the amount of biscuits and chocolate that I buy. However, there are a few weaknesses that I am finding it very hard to slowly edge out of my diet and these are some of the biscuits sold in Tesco, I love their chocolate shortbread but one thing I do treat myself to every so often are their Tesco Finest Half Coated Triple Chocolate Cookies. I bought them the other day but haven't even looked at them in a while.
Tesco do tend to have quite a good biscuit range and a lot of supermarkets do try to have their normal biscuit rip offs like custard creams, Jaffa cakes, shortbreads, bourbon creams but to really make people want to buy they all have their finer ranges. I know Asda have a Finer biscuit range and their cookies are nice but there is just something that bit more sophisticated and tempting with Tesco's Finest biscuit range, it is the packaging and the photography which lured me in.
The packaging of the Tesco Finest Half Coated Triple Chocolate Cookies which is a mouthful to even say is very classy and rich looking. It has the look of sophistication with its black through to deep purple blending background. In a metallic silver band it has the black text stating the product name and what exactly the cookies are. The box now also states that it is now a new and improved recipe and has the Finest writing in the top corner. It is in a tall rectangular shaped box and the photo of the cookies stacked high makes them look appetising the way the light hits them.
The nutritional information for these cookies, on the front of the box and on the side it states exactly what each cookie contains. For one cookie, it is 135 calories which was obvious that it would be high for something that tastes so good. There are 7.3g of fat per biscuit and the biscuits are suitable for vegetarians. Each box is 200g and I think they contain about 10 cookies per box. It also states there are no nuts in the recipe but they can't guarantee there are no nuts in the ingredients because it was made in a factory which made nut products previously. The cookies contain milk, wheat, gluten, egg and soya for those with allergies to be aware and all ingredients are listed on the side of the box.
The cookies once open are on a black plastic tray ridge into slots almost. They are in a clear plastic wrapper. They smell of chocolate right away and look so good. They are dark brown cookies with what can be seen as quite big chunks in the cookie. They are described as being half coated in Belgian chocolate which is true as the whole base is coated and they are made with plain, white and milk chocolate chunks which are what can be seen in the biscuit.
The biscuit is really chocolatey as I bite into it but not too crumbly. The different chocolate chunks inside really create an intensely sweet flavour but it really does taste good and they are very addictive biscuits. I find these are more enjoyable when dipped into a cup of tea as the chocolate really melts and it all melts into my mouth as a whole.
I usually tend to eat a few but wrap the box up and keep it away from me after as I don't want to eat too much. I find after eating about two of these that I usually find them quite heavy and don't want to eat too many or the novelty wears off and then I just feel really ill from over indulging.
After opening the box I put them back in their plastic and close the box and find these biscuits don't really go soft and remain just how they were when first opened. Of course though I wouldn't leave them opened for weeks on end without eating but that's no issue in my house as these are usually gone within under a week anyway. It states, to store these in a cool, dry place which is what I usually do anyway leaving them in a cupboard I'd never leave them anywhere where sunlight would be on them all day melting them.
If these sound just like what you feel like eating, then get down to your local Tesco, if you are lucky sometimes these can be on offer but I don't mind paying the full price for these anyway as they are most definitely worth it. They cost a bargain 85p which is alright for the quality of the biscuits and how much you get in them, cheaper than other stores' Finer ranges.
