Tesco Finest Swiss Black Cherry Yogurt.
------------------------------------------------- ------
About the Product.
-----------------------------------
Tesco PLC first introduced there finest range of products to 120 stores nation wide in February 1999. These were promoted on the basis that the products were made from on the finest of ingredients and only of the finest quality, making them that little bit extra special to other normal and better know brands. The product I am reviewing is the Tesco Finest Swiss Black Cherry Yogurt, but the Finest Yogurt range also comes in Hazelnut, Champagne Rhubarb, Scottish Raspberry, Strawberry and Cream, Wild Blueberry, Swiss Black Cherry and Devonshire Fudge Varieties.
What You Get.
-------------------------
Tesco Finest Range Yogurts retail at 51p for a 150g pot and come in seven varieties listed above. The finest yogurts are suitable for vegetarians and have an extremely generous portion of thick and creamy yogurt with pieces of fruit, nut or fudge in them depending on the variety you purchase.
The packing.
-------------------------
Each 150g portion of yogurt comes in an oval shaped cardboard pot, which has a thin coating of plastic attached to it on the inside for extra durability, freshness and to make the container waterproof. The pots are usually mostly black with a silver effect ring around the top part of the side of the pot, which clearly shows you the name, and flavour of the yogurt. There is also a picture of the content of the yogurt, e.g. Black Cherries or fruit pieces or pieces of fudge depending on the variety. The nutritional information of each pot is clearly labelled on both the front and the back of the yogurt. Also on the back of the pot is allergy advice, added ingredients, additional information as well as the weight and the barcode. The yogurt is the sealed with a plastic white lid, which also clearly gives product information and best before dates.
Taste, Smell and Appearance. (Swiss Black Cherry)
--------------------------------- ------------------------------------
On opening the pot I was greeted by a lovely deep plum coloured yogurt with a few large looking pieces of fruit clearly visible. I stirred the yogurt first as I always do and found it to be extremely thick in texture as well, there also appeared to be plenty more fruit throughout the product. THere was a deliciously fruity yogurt aroma coming from the yogurt pot, which made it even more appealing. Then for the taste, and oh what a beautiful taste. Thick and creamy to taste as well as looks and a very clear and distinctive taste of Black Cherries with a piece of fruit for every mouthful in my opinions. The fruit taste was not at all overpowering and still allowed you the delicate taste of the fresh yogurt. I did not in any way find this product either to sweet or to sharp to taste.
My Opinion.
----------------------------
I love these yogurts and regularly buy them, as they have such a delicious taste to them and are indeed of the highest quality in my opinion. There are always generous chunks of fruit, nut or fudge in the pots and I can rectify that for all varieties as I have tried them all. I will say that if you are not a huge lover of nuts then stay well away from the hazelnut variety and the strawberry and cream one did come across to me as more cream than strawberries but they are still of excellent quality. When you compare them in price to other yogurts, they are a little more expensive but that in my opinion is truly compensated for by the quality of the product you are getting. I must say that I no longer seem to enjoy the standard yogurts now since eating these as I find them very mean, bland and watery in comparison. On saying all this, I am very happy to highly recommend this product.
