Advantages: Lovely creamy taste, pieces of real fudge hidden inside, Delicious treat

Disadvantages: More expensive than its' competitors, High in calories and fat

Tesco Finest* is the brand name for Tescos' range of luxury products. Tesco Finest* products are produced using better quality ingredients than the bulk standard products, ie better cuts of meat are used in the meat dishes and the cream is used in yogurts. The end result is a product which is of a much higher quality than its competitors. So far so good, but the downside to this however, is that better quality ingredients cost more and unfortunately these costs are passed on to the consumer, although in my experience, the products are much tastier and a lot more enjoyable so once in a while it is worth treating yourself to these products.

The product from the Tesco Finest* range that I am going to review is Tesco Finest* Devonshire Style Fudge Yogurt. I was first introduced to this product after I read a review by Mel, (cheeky chicken), I think she had reviewed the Lemon Curd flavour and I made a comment that I probably wouldn't the like it as I wasn't keen on Lemon Curd - Mel then kindly left a message in my guest book to tell me that there were other varieties available one of which was fudge. Now she was talking - I love fudge yogurts, especially the thick and creamy luxurious ones. Unfortunately I don't live very near to a Tesco Store so I had to wait until I was next going to Southampton and passing a Tesco Superstore before I could buy one to sample. I first sampled these yogurts about a month ago and only bought 1 in case I didn't like it - who was I trying to kid - I was so impressed that the next day I made a special trip back to Tescos, (about 10 miles from where I live), just to buy some more, however, they are obviously very popular as when I arrived at the yogurt aisle the shelf where they had been displayed was empty and when I inquired if there were any more I was told that they were out of stock. Today though I was lucky enough to find that they were back in stock so I grabbed some quick.

The yogurt i

s packaged in a 150g sized stylish silver cardboard oval tub with a silver foil lid. Both the front of the tub and the lid have the product name emblazoned across them along with a small picture of the product inside. The rear of the tub details the ingredients and nutritional information.

The silver foil lid has a small overlap and is easy to remove. Upon removing the lid you are initially greeted by the sweet fudge aroma. The yogurt is a pale beige colour and is of a thick consistency, it is made with cream and West County Milk and this is very apparent by the rich creamy taste. Hidden within the yogurts are small balls of fudge, I normally suck the yogurt from around the fudge and then eat it on its own after I've swallowed the yogurt - the fudge pieces are very nice although I'm not sure that I would be so keen on them on their own if they were being sold as a sweet product, but when coupled with the yogurt it makes a very attractive and enticing combination.

As previously mentioned I am a big fan of luxury yogurts, especially the thick and creamy fudge varieties, I normally eat either Asdas' own brand or Marks & Spencers' brand but in my opinion the Tesco Finest* beats these both hands down. The reason I like this so much more than the others is because it is much creamier that its' competitors and I also love the small fudge pieces.

**NUTRITIONAL INFORMATION**

Each 150g pot of Devonshire Style Fudge yogurt contains.

281 calories and 13.8g of fat

The product may contain traces of nuts as it is made in a factory that uses nut ingredients.

**OTHER INFORMATION**

A 150g pot costs 55p.

The Tesco Finest* yogurts are also available in the following flavours.

Wild Blackberry, Pear and Butterscotch, Bourbon Vanilla, Champagne Rhubarb, Strawberry and Cream, Lemon Curd, Swiss Black Cherry and Scottish Raspberry - I have not yet tried any of these but
if th
ey are half as good as the Devonshire Style Fudge Yogurt then they come highly recommended.

Sod the calories, this sounds divine ! And the pear-butterscotch one, and the champagne-something one as well. Shame there is no Tesco in the area :) Ingrid

It's the calories and fat content that puts me off!

It's true, it's a much better quality to their basic range. Even the cheese is different!
