I don't know what came over me last week....I let my husband come to the supermarket with me. Big mistake!

What was I thinking of? He constantly moans, keeps disappearing and tries to sneak unnecessary items into the trolley when my back is turned.

Last week was no exception. As I was stood piling all of the shopping onto the conveyor at the checkout, I noticed two yogurts that I most certainly hadn't picked up myself. Noticing the words 'Tesco Finest' emblazoned across the pots, I subsequently went berserk!

'What are these doing here?....What have you got these for?....How much are they?....Tesco Finest? I bet they cost a fortune!....You don't even know do you....you've just picked them up without even looking at the price....Are we made of money all of a sudden?....Have we won the lottery without me having any knowledge of it?'

I may have over-reacted slightly (well, I admit, a lot actually) but in my defence it was 'that time of the month' and I was in rather a bad mood.

Anyway, I let the offending articles past and placed them in the fridge when we got home. I think hubby ate his that same evening and he couldn't wait to tell me how lovely it was.

Mine on the other hand remained in exactly the same position for a good few days. My stubbornness prevented me from tucking in whilst in front of him....just in case I really enjoyed it. I didn't want to give him the satisfaction after my little outburst!

One evening I found myself alone. The perfect opportunity to get stuck in and give it a try....

The overall presentation stands out immediately. Tesco Finest yogurt comes in a lovely, unusual shaped pot. It's not a standard round plastic tub like most yogurts, it's oval and made from a firm cardboard. Considering that it's only a yogurt, the attention to detail actually results in it looking stylish.

The design on the pot follows the style of all Tesco Finest products - quite simple black and silver colouring with the use of really nice photography to emphasize the quality of the item. This is in keeping with the idea behind the whole Finest range. I call them Tesco's posh products!

There are quite a few flavours to choose from in this range of yogurts. Bourbon Vanilla, Strawberry & Cream, Champagne Rhubarb and Orange Blossom Honey are just a few that stick in my mind. The particular flavour that I am reviewing is Devonshire Style Fudge Yogurt, described as being a decadent blend of Devonshire style rich and chewy fudge pieces with cream and West Country milk.

I carefully peeled back the foil lid, finally admitting to myself that I was actually looking forward to it, and plunged my spoon into the depths of the tub.

The first mouthful was utterly overwhelming....gorgeous texture, soooo creamy that it glides smoothly down the throat. My taste buds suddenly went into overdrive and I found my mouth was watering in anticipation of the next delicious spoonful.

The yogurt itself is absolutely scrumptious but the addition of the small but perfectly formed fudge pieces makes it all the more special. It's a stunning combination. There are lots of pieces blended in but you need to give it a stir first as they tend to sink to the bottom. They are quite firm and chewy on the outside but the centre is softer and almost melts in your mouth. Heaven!

At this point, I realised that the pot adds to the experience and is actually designed in a way which makes it a really nice shape to hold while you are savouring it's delightful content. An ergonomic yogurt pot!

I can honestly say that I never thought I could get such immense pleasure from eating a yogurt. I've never tasted anything like it!

The fact that it is fudge flavour (basically a slightly creamier version of a toffee yogurt) could possibly lead you to believe that this would be sickly but it most certainly isn't. It is full of flavour....sweet and rich but easily palatable. The fairly thick consistency also means that it's really filling and more than adequate as a dessert. Having guests round for dinner? Empty this yogurt into a small dish for pud and serve with some large chunks of fudge. I'm sure your diners will enjoy it!

The only bad thing about it is the inevitable fat content. There are a wicked 281 calories and 13.8g of fat in this tempting 150ml pot. It's so unfair that the nicest foods are more often than not the ones which are bad for you!

We are also informed on the pot this yogurt is suitable for vegetarians but unfortunately may contain traces of nuts therefore it's best avoided if you have a nut allergy.

As the brand name suggests, this tantalising little tub is only available in Tesco stores. And the cost? 55p which is admittedly fairly steep for a yogurt. A limited number of the flavours are also sold in larger sized 400ml tubs which offer better value for money.

Normally, I wouldn't admit defeat but on this occasion, I did let my other half know that he'd 'done good' in sneaking this yogurt into the trolley. It may be quite expensive but it's definitely worth it for a luxurious, delectable treat.

I'll certainly be buying a few pots of Tesco Finest Devonshire Fudge Style Yogurt the next time I go to Tesco. I might even sample some of the other flavours too!

And just in case you were wondering, I haven't won the lottery!
