I love fruit; its so refreshing and, let's face it, healthy too! Although I am not too fond of cherries on their own, one of my favourite yoghurt flavours is cherry, so there was no surprise when I saw the Tesco Finest Swiss Black Cherry yoghurt that I could not wait to try it!

This yoghurt comes in quite an unusual oval shaped pot, which has base colours of black and silver. Mounted on this is a delicious image of shiny cherries. They look so vibrant in their glossy red shade, almost too good to eat! Though there are no indications as to what the yoghurt itself looks like. However, when you peel back the lid, just one of two spurts of yoghurt thankfully, you will notice the dessert is a pale pink shade. Through it, you will spot quite large sizes of red cherries. Not only does it look amazing, but it smells divine too! Drifting out of the pot is a scrumptiously sweet and fruity cherry aroma. I simply could not wait to taste it!

I spooned up some of the pink yoghurt and popped it into my mouth. The first think I noticed was the contrast in the two textures. The yoghurt itself was quite light and airy, creamy too. The cherries however were much thicker and juicer, quite heavy on the tongue. The taste was just as satisfying. The cherries had such a rich fruity flavour, which reminded me of Cherryade pop a little! The yoghurt was quite sweet and sugary, which I thought blended well together.

The yoghurt was utterly gorgeous to eat, but what were the health factors like? I can be exceptionally fussy when it comes to nutrition, and I must say, I was not impressed with this particular yoghurt! Each 150g pot contains 200 calories and 18.8g sugars, which may not seem too bad for a little yoghurt dessert, but when you notice that it contains 8.9g fat, your eyes hit the roof. Though I suppose it could be worse; there are some yoghurts out there with 20g fat! This is also a good source of calcium to help keep our bones and hair strong, and is suitable for vegetarians.

::WARNING:: contains milk, and may contain traces of nuts.

This was great to eat straight from the pot, but I do like to enjoy my yoghurts in other ways too. But just how practical was this one? I often enjoy yoghurt on weetabix, but I feel that unless you were to split this one with somebody else, the yoghurt is far too heavy and far too much for this. Yoghurt and fruit also goes down a treat, but I feel this would only work with cherries, or perhaps raspberries. This is not really a good size to pop into a lunch box, however it is an idea to serve it as a snack or dessert after a meal. Often you can reuse yoghurt pots, but this is just not possible as it is made from cardboard, and will just fall apart.

So far, the negative things seem to balance out the positive things, but will that continue? Well the yoghurt costs 68p, which I think you will agree is not that cheap for a single yoghurt! On a benefit though, they do have a good shelf life, lasting around a fortnight after purchasing! Though how you can let it last that long, I'll never know!

Comparing this to other similar yoghurts, I didn't know what to expect at first. This is not as tasty as the Muller Amore cherry, but is just as unhealthy. The Muller Light cherry yoghurt is not as thick but is exceptionally healthy compared, as is the Weight Watchers Cherry. The Tesco Black Cherry yoghurt is not as delicious nor is it as creamy, but I will admit it is much cheaper and healthier too. As for the Asda Morello Cherry yoghurt? Well that is tasteless, and just as unhealthy, but is slightly cheaper. Both the Coop Low Fat Cherry and the Asda Good For You Probiotic Cherry yoghurts are pasty compared to this one, but are indeed much cheaper and far more of a health benefit, not to mention being more versatile! I'd say, in all, this yoghurt ranks in the middle.

If you like cherries and yoghurt, then this is certainly worth a try! Though I would not advise you eat too many - its a killer for the figure! As it is only found in Tesco stores, it can be quite hard to find, but if you do get the opportunity to try it, I definitely do recommend!
