Tesco Fresh Double Cream is a product that I don't think you can go far wrong with. Dairy products are generally quite expensive these days, but the price of this products remains quite competitive. There are a range of pack sizes to choose from, and the prices don't jump around too much between pack sizes either. You can get 150ml for 56p, 300ml for 84p or 600ml for £1.68. So you can afford to buy whichever pack size suits your needs without worrying that you're paying twice the price per ml just to buy a smaller pot.

In the 300ml and 600ml sizes, the cream comes in a thin plastic pot with a blue plastic lid on it. Once you've removed the seal off the pot, you can just the lid to keep this fresh in the fridge in between uses. I think that's handy because when you try and put clingfilm on something like this, it invariably ends up getting messy and tricky.

The cream has a lovely thick texture to it, that's noticeably thicker than Tesco Single Cream is. It drips and runs nicely over desserts, and is much nicer for presentation purposes when you're entertaining I think. No-one wants their fudge cake to look like it's sitting in cheap milk after all!

The taste is rich and very creamy, with a hint of sweetness to it as well. I think there are nicer cream products out there, especially the kind you purchase direct from a farm shop. But I don't feel like I'm missing out particularly when I eat this. I don't feel like I've gone for the cheaper option, just the every day one.

This is a first class choice for use on all kinds of desserts, and for any cooking purposes too. It's affordable, convenient to store and best of all it tastes and looks great.
