Disadvantages: Strange Texture After Eating It

Tesco Fresh Whipping Cream is quite cheap at 84p for a small 300ml tub. That's the same price as a 300ml tub of Tesco Double Cream, and only 7p more than a 300ml tub of Tesco Single Cream. As the price of dairy products in general is quite high, I don't think that's an unreasonable price to pay.

The taste and texture of this cream before you start whipping is actually really nice. It's rich, thick and very creamy with a very smooth texture to it. Once whipped however, the taste changes to something that I'm not so keen on. It's strange really given that I love whipped cream in general.

I find that this stuff sweetens up nicely, and stiffens into a good texture for use on desserts and what not, but that it leaves a funny texture in my mouth when I eat it. It's like it lines the roof of my mouth with a glossy, bland layer off the cream. It's a bit difficult to describe really, but what I can say is that I really don't like it when it does this.

For a fresh whipped cream product, it's got quite an artificial after taste to it. Unfortunately, this is the only choice of whipped cream that there is in Tesco. So if you want it for a specific purpose, you have no alternative but to buy this. It's reasonably priced, and it does have a nice creamy taste to it. But the strange texture it leaves in my mouth is something I'd rather avoid. If there was an alternative available - I'd buy it.
