Tesco Healthy Living Chicken & Broccoli Pie

Description: Manufacturer: Tesco / Type: Ready Meal

... of your daily salt. There's no doubt however that it is healthier than the equivalent option - Tesco Roast Chicken Pie - with 30% less fat. I did find I was peckish again by about 9pm so it's not the most filling of meals and could have done with perhaps some salad on the side to pad it out a bit. Overall though it was very enjoyable and of a much higher standard than I'd normally expect from a ready meal, and I'm encouraged to try other meals in the range....more

Premium Review Tesco Healthy Living Chicken & Broccoli Pie: Nice as Pie (536 words)

I don't normally eat ready meals but I've recently started a night class which I go to straight from work, and although I always make myself a packed lunch for work, I didn't have the time nor the inclination to make two packed lunches for a Wednesday. So a ready meal that can be microwaved at work and quickly eaten before zooming off was the answer. And as I'm still counting the calories - and the pennies - the Tesco Light Choices range caught my eye, and I've been having them once a week since. There was something about the Chicken and Broccoli Pie that just didn't appeal to me - I don't know what - but when I saw it whoopsied the other day, down to £1.15 ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review A very reasonable ready meal, but that's all it can ever be. ... (870 words)

---Intro--- It's rare that I eat ready meals. As we all know they are not the healthy choice, usually being full of salt and often containing weird ingredients which we wouldn't consider putting in our home cooking. However, hubby is away again, and lately when cooking we don't seem to have made extra portions to freeze, so when shopping in Tesco the other day I succumbed, and chucked a couple of ready meals in the trolley - I find it such an effort to cook for one after a day at work. This is the Tesco Light Choices Chicken and Broccoli pie (a potato based pie rather than a pastry pie). It can be found in the chilled section of ready meals. ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Tesco Healthy Living Chicken & Broccoli Pie: Low in calories AND low in taste! (549 words)

As most of you know I am trying to lose weight at the moment and while I love cooking, sometimes it's handy to have some ready meals in the freezer for those times that I cannot be bothered. I bought this Healthy Living Chicken & Broccoli Pie for such an occasion, and yesterday that occasion arrived. After just a few bites however I began to wish that I had not been so lazy and cooked myself a proper meal as not only is this pie rather tasteless, but it also might as well be made of cotton wool for all the sustenance it provided me with. This is basically a cottage pie themed meal, only with chunks of chicken and broccoli instead of the rich ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Bland bland bland (233 words)

For some reason the other half thought this would be a good purchase which just goes to show that he cannot be trusted when it comes to buying food, after all based on the ingrediets it would have been far better to make the pie from scratch with fresh ingredients and without the salt and other preservatives that Tesco pile into this healthyliving product. Instead of pastry the topping is a rather thick layer of mashed potato with a ripple effect on top and this sits on top of a layer of chicken chunks and broccoli in a white sauce and it can be prepared in the microxave so it is quick to cook. Taste wise the potato was far too salty, I never add ...  Read the complete review
