With the Tesco near us just recently opened, I've now had the delights of sampling some of their own yoghurts at long last! You can buy the Tesco Incredibly Fruity yoghurts on their own, or in a 4-pack like I did; Strawberry, Raspberry, Peach and Nectarine, and Black Cherry. The latest I have tried is the Black Cherry flavour.
The Black Cherry option, like the rest, comes in a tough cardboard cylidrical pot. In the front is a large picture of a black cherry, which looks very juicy and fresh. Though there is no indication to what the yoghurt looks like. However, when you pull back the easy-to-peel lid, you'll see the yoghurt is a very dashing shade of lilac purple, with deep purple pieces of cherry fruit through it.
The yoghurt has a delicious fruity aroma to it, which is definitely a cherry scent. It was so tempting, I couldn't help but be lured closer. When I spooned up some of the yoghurt, I discovedred it was as thick and creamy as the others. The fruity pieces were incredibly rich in flavour and juicy too! That's all well, but what about the taste? Thankfully, it was just as phenomenal! It was rather sugary sweet and definitely had a rich black cherry flavour. Even the after-taste was perfect, which is not always the case with cherry foods!
Yes, it was the taste of perfection, but was this all that healthy? Thankfully, yes! This low fat yoghurt cotains just 135 calories per 150g pot, and 22.4g sugars, as well as 1.4g fat. Okay, so I know some yoghurts are virtually fat free, but the chances of them tasting this delicious are slim! It's also a great source of calcium to help keep bones strong!
::WARNING:: contains milk and may contain traces of nuts or seeds.
This yoghurt is reasonably versatile too. It's a reasonable size to add to weetabix, though I will admit there are smaller, but less tasty yoghurts for the job! Try sloshing over some fruit (I recommend red cherries!) to give their taste a little lift. It's a nice to slot into a lunch box too or serve as an after-school snack to lethargic children, and is so much healthier than a bar of chocolate or packet of crisps! Unfortunately, as the pot is made of a cardboard rather than a plastic, it cannot really be reused as it will fall apart after just a couple of washes.
So how does this compare to ther cherry yoghurts? Cherry is one of my favourite flavours when it comes to yoghurt (and lipgloss too!), so I've sampled quite a variety. This one is so much thicker than the Asda Good For You option, which is often a little watery. It had a little more calories and fat than the Muller Light though, which moves it down a little. It's a lot larger than the Weight Watchers yoghurt, and has a much more rich colour and flavour to it. In all, it's quite highly ranked in the Cherry Yoghurt list!
This yoghurt within the pack cost me just £1.49, which is quite a bargain! Though if you so wish you can buy them individually for 42p. Tesco also offer 3 for £1, which means you can mix and match between the other flavours in the range to suit your taste.
This was an Incredibly delicious yoghurt, and most certainly worth a try!
