For a while now I've been addicted to yoghurts - there's something about their texture and taste I find so appealing (with the odd exception, of course!) After the Tesco across the road from us opened up, I was delighted to finally be able to sample their fantastic range of yoghurts, and instantly bought a four-pack of their Incredbly yoghurts; Raspberry, Black Cherry, Strawberry, and Peach and Nectarine. After finding tasty sweet success with the other three flavours, it was time to try the Raspberry.
Like the rest, the Raspberry yoghurt comes in a fairly tall cylindrical tough cardboard pot. Mounted on the blue background is a rather large and stretched-out raspberry. It looked incredibly delicious and mouth-watering, however there is no indication as to what the yoghurt itself looks like.
When you peel back the shiny lid with ease, minimum showers thankfully, you'll notice the yoghurt is quite a pale yet attractive shade of pink. Through it you can see lots of little deep red specks, which I assumed (and hoped!) was the raspberries. The sweet berry aroma infiltrating out took over every other sence for a split second, allowing me to indulge in this delicious aroma.
Of course, the smell of the yoghurt is all well and good, however taste is what I was really looking for! Spooning some of the yoghurt into my mouth, I was pleasantly delighted by the phenomenal texture that intruiged me before my tastebuds got to work. The yoghurt was very thick and creamy, the raspberry pieces quite soft and juicy, just the perfect size too. As I began to examine the taste, I was not disappointed in the least! The strong raspyberry flavour took a matter of seconds to dominate, and was an absolute delight! Thankfully pleased with this one too, I poured the remainer onto my lunch serving of weetabix. It gave the somewhat bland cereal a kick; a more interesting taste and provided a much more filling meal too!
Delicious, yes. Healthy? Well, that's the question! Surely something so satisfying cannot be healthy, right? Wrong! This 150g yoghurt has just 135 calories per pot, with only 21.9g sugars and 1.4g fat! Okay, so I know there are some yoghurts which are actually virtually fat free, however not everything can be so perfect! This yoghurt is also a fantastic source of calcium, helping us keep our bones strong and healthy. Not forgetting the fact that it is also suitable for vegetarians!
::WARNING:: contains milk and may contain traces of nuts.
Again, things seemed to good to be true - there has to be a catch somewhere! I decided to inspect the price - but found no issues there either! The four-pack I bought cost just £1.49, which is a fantastic price! Though you can also buy these at 42p each, or better still take advantage of the offer and buy 3 for £1, mixing and matching the flavours available. Do not worry - you do not need to eat them all at once! These yoghurts have an average shelf life of a fortnight after purchase.
Digging deeper, I drew up the versatility. This is quite a nice size to add to weetabix, especially since I ate a spoonful before adding it. You can also pour it onto fruit such sa strawberries or raspberries to improve their texture and make them a little more exciting! This yoghurt pot is also a nice size to pop into a lunch, and to serve as a snack or after-school snack to lethargic children! However, as it is made of cardboard rather than plastic, you cannot really reuse it as it will just fall apart after a few washes, though this really is just a minor issue!
How does it compare? I've had a few raspberry yoghurts before, so could compare it reasonably. There is a lot more in the pot compared to the Weight Watchers yoghurts, which is always great considering it is still healthy! Unfortunately, the Muller Light Raspberry and Cranberry yoghurt has less calories and fat, but is however thinner and less fruity than this. This has a more natural and refreshing taste than the Coop low fat raspberry yoghurt, and again you will find it much thicker with juicier fruit pieces. I'd say in general, this is one of the cheapest raspberry yoghurts too, and it ranks quite high!
So all seems so positive! I think I can safely conclude that this is a deliciously fruity low fat raspberry yoghurt from the Tesco Incredibly range, and certainly worth a try!
