Disadvantages: The oats fly everywhere!!!

I like Ready Brek but when there are cheaper alternatives on the market that are just as good, I refuse to pay more. I will buy any of the cheaper versions including this one from Tesco which is just £1.32 for a 750g box.

The main difference between this and the standard porridge is the fact that the oats are much, much finer.

The oats are very easy to make up but they do make a real mess. The powder is so fine that any slight breeze or movement will send them into a frenzy and they will be covering your kitchen side before you know it. All you need to do is to warm up some milk and add the oats to it and I would suggest that you stir them in very carefully because they run over the side of the bowl very easily too.

The texture of the oats is very much like baby food if you get it right. If you get it wrong then you will end up with big lumps of dry oats everywhere. I don't mind either of the above really; if I'm feeling lazy then the smooth slop is very easy to eat but if I'm not then I like coping with the lumps.

This cereal has much the same taste as a bowl of porridge although I would say it's slightly more intense. I think some people find it quite a bland cereal and you can add tonnes of things to it like fruit, chocolate flakes, sugar, honey and whatever takes your fancy.

The boys love this stuff and it's a great breakfast to give to little babies too because of the texture.
