... identical size. These jaffa cakes have been wrapped up in 12 and I always find that once a packet is open it doesn't last the day between me and my fiancé or even my Mum as there is something so deliciously moreish about these and I can never resist several in a matter of minutes. The Jaffa Cake itself is a sponge based biscuit with an orange flavoured jelly in the middle half covered in chocolate. The chocolate is not the best quality ever but it's perfectly tasty, the sponge is indeed sponge like and easy enough to...more

I purchased this packet of 12 of Tesco's Jaffa Cakes for just 62p which is the long term price and one that I just couldn't resist, even on my limited budget. The packaging is very basic; a cardboard box with orange, nutritional information, company information, barcode etc and the best before date is several months away although there is no danger of them lasting that long with me around! Each jaffa cake contains 43 calories and 1g fat per jaffa cake so they actually have 4 calories less than the 'real' version and they appear to be an identical size. These jaffa cakes have been wrapped up in 12 and I always find that once a packet is ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Cake or biscuit... at a budget price from Tesco (554 words)

It is part of the unwritten rules in our office that team biscuits and cakes are brought in on a Friday. Jaffa Cakes are a very popular choice, for those with a sweet tooth and also for the dieters amongst us, who see these as a "healthier" biscuit. However as the department has expanded in terms of number of people working here buying the branded McVities Jaffa Cakes has proven expensive. So the compromise for happy stomachs and happy bank balances has been Tesco Jaffa Cakes. ***Packaging*** The Tesco Jaffa cakes come in a rectangular box holding 12 Jaffa cakes. This is an orange cardboard box which has and image of the Jaffa ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Tesco Jaffa Cakes: Tesco jaffa cakes - not quite mcvities but not bad either! (428 words)

Before getting married, my husband was spoiled by his mother who made him a pudding every night after dinner. When we got married, that needed to change, otherwise I would be twice my size, unlike my husband who can seemingly eat for Britain and not put on the teeniest amount of weight. As a compromise we now have a cup of tea and a biscuit after our dinner every night - that biscuit being one or two (or even three) jaffa cakes. Now when the supermarkets have offers on the Mcvities jaffa cakes, I will always purchase them above all else, however for the most part when there are no such offers, I am perfectly happy to purchase these Tesco pack of jaffa ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review As good as the original at half the price! (805 words)

My husband adores Jaffa Cakes and I suppose, given his sweet tooth, they are one of the better things in the sweets, cakes and biscuits selection that he can eat. Each Jaffa Cake only contains 1g of fat and 46 calories although each one does contain 6.2g of sugar! Before we start let's get one thing straight Jaffa Cakes are definitely a cake and not a biscuit. Apparently the Inland Revenue took McVities to court saying that Jaffa cakes were liable for VAT as they are classed as a 'luxury biscuit'. McVities said that they weren't and they won with the explanation that Jaffa Cakes go hard when stale as cake does, whereas biscuits go soft when stale. ...  Read the complete review
