Cheaper than the famous brands (Tesco Jelly Babies)

Advantages: Taste good.

Disadvantages: Too much sugar :-(

I have to confess to having a bit of a sweet tooth and every now and then needing to indulge in a little sweet snack. There are no sweets that I love more than the others so, the Tescos three small bags for one pound offer is ideal as then I get to try a few different things, but it is much better than a variety bag as they always get filled with rubbish and only a few nice things.

In my last shopping expedition I decided to purchase the Tescos jelly babies. They come in relatively plain boring packaging, so I can't see them competing with the likes of the bigger brands whose packaging goes crazy to try and attract the children! However I was sold on the offer, as I have my eye out for different things than children.

The bag was easy to open, but was not resealable. This was not a huge problem as the bag was so small I was most likely to eat them all in one go! The jelly babys are similar to the bassets ones. They are all the same size, about 1cm tall. They come in a wide variety of different colours. With each colour tasting different, although if I was blindfolded I would probably not be able to guess what colour I was eating.

The jelly beans have a thicker sugary coating and then a soft jelly inside. The two textures compliment each other well and taste really nice on the tongue, and to chew together.

I would recommend these sweets, obviously there are downsides, like the high amount of sugar, but that's sweets for you!

They are cheaper than the more popular brand, and a small snack sized bag is ideal to try before you buy a huge one!

Summary: Nice cheap alternative.
