I've gone mad on pitta bread at the minute and the best ones I reckon are these large wholemeal ones from Tesco. They are about 60p for 6 and they are quite a bit bigger than the standard size ones but apart from that they look exactly the same. I always warm mine under the grill because I like the edges to go a bit crispy. They are easy to cut and open out nice for me to be able to put the filling inside, because they're bigger they open out wide and you can stuff loads in! That's perfect for when I'm in a greedy mood! lol They taste dead nice, because they are wholemeal they've got a bit of a nutty taste and that makes them a lot more ... Read the complete review

I'm on holiday at the moment, staying at my boyfriends parents house in Eastbourne. One of the wonders of staying at other peoples houses is all the new foods they have lurking in their cupboards, and today I cam across a rather nice red pepper and feta paste . This looked yummy, but called for something other than a bog standard slice of bread - happily, I found some wholemeal pitta breads in the cupboard too . Now, I'm not huge eater of wholemeal bread - I tend to buy the best-of-both kind of loaves every so often, but actual wholemeal just has too strong a taste for me, so I wasn't entirely convinced I would like these pittas . Opening the pack, ... Read the complete review

Although I usually eat white pitta bread, I somehow managed to pick up a packet of wholemeal ones in Tesco recently and they've completely changed my views! These large sized own brand pitta breads are delicious and I think the bulk of my pitta purchases will be these from now on. The main thing I like about them is their half and half flavour, by this I mean the pittas have a rather subtle wholemeal flavour which doesn't completely overwhelm the bread as a packet of Waitrose pittas I ate some time ago did. The strength of the Waitrose pittas was so intense that it was hard to find a filling which I could actually taste over the wholemeal ... Read the complete review

I love wholemeal pitta bread!!! First things first, let's get one thing straight. I hate wholemeal bread! Ok, hate is such a mild word. I abhor wholemeal bread!!! Naturally, I assumed that I would hate wholemeal pitta as well, but surprisingly enough I prefer wholemeal pittas to white ones! I find that white pittas can sometimes be a little floury or tasteless. Wholemeal pittas are nothing like that, they have more texture and have a richer taste to them. They are not overly 'wholemeal', rather a hint of it. Which is great as you can eat something that you know is good for you without having to compromise on taste. ... Read the complete review

In honour of my daughter going off on her first 'adult' holiday to Greece with her friends, I am going to make myself a pseudo Greek lunch and sit in the sun and eat it (and try not to worry about her). I really love eating one of these giant pittas stuffed with my homemade hommous, some black olives, a few salad leaves plucked from the garden and a small squirt of 'Mayola' vegan mayonaise. Interestingly, I have never actually eaten hommous like this in Greece; I have not often found it on the menu in tavernas - but the recipe I use is from a Greek cookbook. These big pittas (man-pittas) allow you to get all the filling ... Read the complete review
