... tried both sizes and prefer the small one, as I cannot seem to get through the bigger pot within a few days of opening it! What is it like then? Cottage cheese is wet, sticky and pliable, I would describe it has a cross between Philadelphia, Brie and latex. The texture is most odd and it feels grim if you stroke it. It actually makes me shudder a bit! So, let's not stroke the cheese. The cheese is very moist and you will notice it sits in a runny cheesy liquid. It is quite watery and this can over saturate c...more

Premium Review Tesco Light Choices Cottage Cheese: Great cottage cheese that can help with dieting (399 words)

I know so many people don't really like cottage cheese and either refuse to eat it or just tolerate it for dieting purposes, so this may sound quite bizarre but I actually really like cottage cheese. What is more, I don't like the full fat versions as these taste much too rich to me. Therefore Tesco Light Choices Cottage Cheese is almost always present in my fridge. Tesco Light Choices is my favourite cottage cheese because of the flavour and texture. It is quite creamy without being too strong and it's just a little bit sour which I like. It also lacks the artificial taste that you get from some cottage cheeses and is all natural. The texture is great ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review 65% less fat, 95% less flavour (471 words)

While cottage cheese may be an acquired taste due to its quite plain flavour and lumpy texture, I have always liked it and think it is a great healthy alternative to high-fat hard and soft cheeses, buit one which still tastes good. *Packaging* Tesco healthy living cottage cheese comes in 300g plastic tubs, which, contrary to the picture above, is white with a thin stripe of blue around the side (yellow for pineapple flavour, green for chive and onion), a translucent plastic lid, and pealable foil cover underneith. *Uses* Cottage cheese is most commonly used as a sandwhich filling, but can also be eaten on a jacket potato or crumpets ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Tesco Light Choices Cottage Cheese: Even lighter choice for dieters (291 words)
by - written on 11/09/09 (Very useful, 54 readings)

I seem to have been on a diet most of my adult life - obviously without much effect but I do try by choosing low calorie versions of food products I like. Although can't really imagine that anyone not watching their weight eats much cottage cheese at all! I buy the light choices version of Tesco's cottage cheese - in this the plain version as well as the one with pineapple and the one with chives and honestly think there is no discernible difference between them and their "full fat" varieties. The pots claim to contain 70% less fat the standard version but as it contains just 1.8g of fat per 100g then the full fat version is also extremely low in ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review I Am Wet And Cheesy (352 words)

I cannot believe that I only properly tried cottage cheese for the first time a month ago. We made it once in school and then it sort of disappeared from my memory! A trip to Tesco revived my interest in it and I thought it would be worth trying it. The cottage cheese I bought was a 'light choices' cheese, the packaging looks a bit different to the one here, but the cheese is essentially the same. You can buy it in two sizes. A small pot which will cost you about 70p or a larger pot which costs £1.49. I have tried both sizes and prefer the small one, as I cannot seem to get through the bigger pot within a few days of opening it! What is it like ...  Read the complete review
