Advantages: quite good as a low fat sandwich fillingt
Disadvantages: none
I ocasionally buy myself one of the packs of Tesco xtra light choices soft cheeses for my sandwich fillings for work. I try to kid myself I am going to diet.
This product costs 79p for the 250g rectangular tub. I could choose the standard extra light cheese or the one with garlic and herbs but today I choose the onion and chive variety.
The similar Philadelphia one costs £1.39 for 200g.
So come on talk to me while I make my sandwich. Slices of bread and a knife handy. I take the pot from my fridge; check the use by date that's fine plenty of time. I can keep the opened pot in the fridge for 5 days or use before the use by date.
I take the see through plastic lid of and then peel back the foil lid this has all the info on it.
The cheese inside is a white colour and sniffing it, it smalls lightly of onion. I spread this cheese onto my bread no need to use butter or margarine as well. The consistency of this is good easy to spread. I do not need a great deal of spread perhaps on one sandwich a day I might just make the pot last a week the 5 working days. If I have some lettuce or a tomato I might add those to the sandwich too.
This cheese spreads well on oat cakes or any other savoury biscuit for cheese.
Do you want a taste oh go on then. Its pleasant quite mild a light cheesy tasty with onion and chives not too strong, but enough to know they are there.
When I buy the Tesco extra light cheese without the onion and chive flavouring I will sometimes add some chives as I have several clumps in my garden.
Would I recommend this onion and chive cheese? Yes it suits me fine.
Calories well 125 per 100g the Philadelphia one has 158 kcal for the light cheese with chives, the extra light has 111cal per kcal per 100g
Summary: A low fat soft chees with onion and chives
