Very occasionally I treat myself to a twin pack of Tesco Maple Pecan Plaits at the grand price of 89p in Tesco. This is cheaper than you would pay in a cafe but it is still 45p per slice which I feel is quite expensive. They are not a healthy option but every now and then for a week-end breakfast treat I do enjoy the change. The pastry is a thin flaky one but it can be quite dry, although be the maple syrup is quite generous so that helps a bit. Although there is plenty of maple syrup the pastry is not soggy at all. If they improved the quality slightly, I'd happily pay the price, but for the quality I get I don't think these are brilliant value for money. The pastry they've used to make these is a bit on the cheap side for starters. It's very thin, flakey and crumbly. There's an element of moisture to it thanks to the additional ingredients, specifically the maple syrup, but without it the pasty would be pretty dry and bland. The toppings are decent enough with the maple syrup being nice and sticky, without ... Read the complete review
