It was my daughter's birthday yesterday (review written February for the other side) I promised to baby sit so her hubby could take her to the cinema. Ill come round early and bring tea for us all. It's easier for them to leave the children if we have been at their house earlier. So nana made a birthday tea sandwiches cake nibbles and some strawberries and grapes. I made ham sandwiches and cheese sandwiches. I bought organic farmhouse cheddar from Tesco it was the mild variety the little ones are a bit fussy with strong cheddar

Tesco offer extra mature organic cheddar, a mature organic cheddar, a medium organic cheddar and a mild organic cheddar. The mild organic cheddar costs £2.39 for a 320g pack that's 7.47p per kilo the prices increase with strength of cheddar the extra mature one costing 2.89 a 320g pack (£9.04/kg Tesco's own cheapest mild value cheddar cost £3.34p per kilo. Cathedral city mild costs (£6.23/kg)per kilo. I checked these prices today june 22nd

This cheese is one made from milk from cows that are fed on organic products real grass and clover that has not been sprayed with nasties. I can just see Daisy cow in a green field with flowers and lots of butterflies and insects just like the romantic picture you imagine. Anyway the milk then is made into cheese at an organic farm in Shropshire. This cheese carries the organic soil association trademark and carries an organic certification to guarantee that this cheese is made to organic standards. This cheese is free from genetically modified ingredients.
Reading the info about this cheese I see it is not suitable for freezing and you must eat in within 3 days of opening the packet. Store this cheese in your refrigerator and keep cool.

So how does it taste? Yes its mild a delicate flavour nothing unpleasant about it but the mild one is a little delicate for my taste, the grandkids loved it though. This cheese did not taste manufactured, you know there was not that horrible almost plastic taste. The cheese tasted very fresh. Since it was the mild variety I think if you were using this for cooking you would need the mature or extra mature strength, yes more expensive but because it has a stronger flavour you will not use as much.

The texture of this cheese was nice smooth and creamy good and smooth quite soft to get your teeth into. As you might expect not for slimmers as it contains 410kcal per 100g, 34.4 g fat, it has 25g protein per 100g. If you are on a diet and must have cheese much better to choose a strong one more taste per calorie.
I thought this was a good cheese as did everyone else the kids really liked it. I felt better about myself for buying an organic product , I only wish organic things were cheaper .

Summary: A good organic cheese

I get this cheese a lot and it does taste yummy! Good to know it's made without yucky chemicals (on the grass AND in the cows...) Fab review, Kate x

My children like this one too-as you say not too strong. You are a real star to babysit so often. Ann
