Advantages: Tasty, filling, decent price, quick & easy meal

Disadvantages: Not very healthy!

I don't usually buy pre-made sandwiches however after a four hour long shopping spree with a few friends yesterday we were ranvenous and so headed to Tesco on the way home for a bite to eat. I hate eating in cafes or in front of strangers due to my eating disorder, so I opted for a diet coke while my friends ate their lunches in the cafe. On the way out of Tesco, I spotted a large fridge display (near where you walk in to the store, near the magazines) with a variety of sandwiches, drinks and ready made salads. I was starving by this point and so picked up a prawn sarnie from the display to eat on the way home in the car.

I paid £1.50 for this sandwich which isn't a bad price in my opinion. The sandwich comes in the usual triangle shaped sandwich pakaging which is made of cardboard with a thin plastic 'display window' which shows the two halves of the sandwich. I like that there's a little display window as this way I was able to pick the one that looked the nicest/freshest, with the most filling. The packaging is easy to open and is recycable. The sandwich is sliced in half so you basically get one sandwich all together in two slices. It was handy that the sandwich was sliced though as I was eating in the car and attempting to eat one whole, large sandwich would of been pretty messy!

This sandwich is basically prawn mayonnaise on wholemeal (white bread with oatmeal) bread. The bread has the crusts left on and it tasted fresh. The bread was tasty and cooked to perfection, it had that slight fluffy feel to it rather than being chewy. The prawn mayo was creamy, it didn't have any sweetness to it but it had a slight 'kick' to it which is likely the vinegar that's in the ingredients. There were plenty of prawns in the sandwich of a decent size and they were nice and succulent, there was no gristle or chewy bits at all and I really enjoyed my sandwich. The only thing is that I was expecting lettuce or perhaps onion/cucumber etc in the sandwich however there wasn't any. I suppose this is because I am used to eating prawn salad sandwiches rather than prawn mayo sandwiches, but you could always add salad if this was an issue. The sandwich was very filling and my hunger was left feeling satisfied.

This sandwich isn't too high in calories at 401 calories, but at 22 grams of fat for the lot it does seem a tad unhealthy, however I doubt anyone would eat one of these everyday so it's nice as a little treat when you are rushing and don't have time to cook or make a pre made lunch. Overall, I would reccomend this sandwich, it's tasty, filling and not too bad value for money either.
