“ Manufacturer: Tesco / Type: Salad „
Today I went shopping in town. I was so tired that I when I got close to home I decided o pick something up a ready made so I could eat it as soon as I sat down. I bought this layered Prawn pasta salad for £1.25 in the 180g see through carton though it is available in other sizes too! This one though is ideal for one person and comes with a little black plastic fork within it.
Well like I have just stated the salad comes in a see-through plastic container with a flip-top lid to the top of it. On the top of that lid we are told that it is indeed Tesco Prawn Layered Salad and there is an a glance nutritional chart shown. Other information given on the carton includes being told a bit about the product, the ingredients and allergy advice is listed as is the size and a full nutritional chart and contact details for Tesco are given.
The Prawn Salad:
What you get is a layered salad as promised. You get a small layer of a few little pink prawns covered in a rather runny pinkish coloured seafood sauce with a layer of sweetcorn kernels, shredded carrots and cucumber and the majority of the dish is small shells of pasta which is well cooked and not one bit slimy. It looks colourful and there is plenty of runny sauce blended with parsley over it all but all in all I didn't really enjoy this at all to be honest.
The prawns were tiny and didn't really provide much flavour to the dish at all. The salad was overwhelmed by the taste of dry carrots and the whole thing can only be described as soggy because along with the Marie rose dressing there was vinaigrette on the vegetables too and although I mixed it all up I was still left with a pool of scummy looking water to the bottom of it when I ad consumed it.
The size is good, being a rather filling portion and it did taste fresh enough to be fair to it. I am told on the ingredient list that this has red peppers in it but I did look and couldn't find any evidence of them at all and basically this needed a thicker more flavoursome sauce on it and some seasoning. I won't be buying this again!

Tesco Prawn Pasta Salad
For a recent impromptu indoor picnic I grabbed one of these pre-prepared pasta salads from Tesco, drooling at the thought of succulent prawns and pasta. I was left rather disappointed, we all were!
A 400g pack cost me £1.29 and contains 390 calories per half a pack. As there were four adults sharing this I probably had a little less than 200 calories worth and this was not a lot at all. If this had been my lunch I would have eaten the entire pot, with a massive calorie content. The fat levels are also very high at 44.4g for the entire pot. Pretty gross, thinking about that now!!
This is basically a mixture of prawns (very few), sweetcorn, red peppers and spiral pasta in a sickly marie rose sauce.
I really did not enjoy this pasta at all, the sauce was quite watery and there were so few prawns thrown in they may as well not have been there at all. I had thought that it was a very reasonable price, but after eating it it appears not. I will not be buying this product again.
