I am not one for spending money on brand names if there is no real reason to. I eat cereal everyday for breakfast and quite enjoy trying different types, especially if it can save me a few pennies. Kellogg's Rice Crispies were a favourite of mine and I would often eat them in the morning, till I found Tesco's "Rice Snaps", at a price difference of nearly a pound, I thought I'd give them a go. Rice snaps come in the usual large 600g rectangular cardboard cereal box. The box itself is colourful and appears to be aimed at children more with its cartoon character design crocodile on the front. The cereal comes in the usual plastic ... Read the complete review

Although I prefer Coco Pops and other perhaps more exciting Cereals, I do like to try different things. My Husband's favourite Cereals are Rice krispies and Corn Flakes, so I picked up a box of Tesco's version of them. They cost £1.75 for a 600g box, which was a little cheaper than the brand name version. But would they be any good? The packaging is alright. The Rice Snaps are in a plastic bag which is in the standard rectangular shaped box. The bos is quite colourful, with a bowl of the Cereal on the front, and a couple of Cartoon Crocodiles on the front as well. I think all tesco's Cereals have cartoon characters on the front, and I think it looks alright. ... Read the complete review

Tesco have challenged rice crispies here, with a cereal that is actually very nicely packaged and presented. It's the half-way house between supermarket's own brands and the kellogs version, in that it comes from Tesco, but it's packaged attractively. Rice Snaps are basically puffed rice, a very dry and dull cereal that needs something else added to it to make it nice. If you remember, the brand leader Rice Crispies, is marketed on the snap crackle and pop sound effects, and I thought it would be interesting to see how these fare up against that. When you add the milk, they do indeed snap crackle and pop, so 10/10 for sound effects. They ... Read the complete review

I ran out of my usual cereal a few weeks a go and needed to find a replacement to last us to the next Asda shop. I fancied something a bit different from the usual weetabix and bran flakes that I eat of a morning so chose this. I knew Noah would enjoy them especially if they were as noisy as the name brand version! The cereal cost me £1.75 for a 600g box. Inside you will find a plastic bag that keep the puffed rice cereal safe and fresh. The cereal itself is a pale cream in colour and each individual rice bit is about the size of half a nail on your pinky finger. The cereal is very easy to break and is rather thin. This is always a good sign because ... Read the complete review

Tesco Rice Snaps are a decent little store brand cereal, although they're not quite the bargain that they once were. These days they cost £1.75 for a 600g box. Kelloggs Rice Krispies, the best known brand of this kind of cereal, cost £2.69 for a 600g box, but are frequently on offer for £2. Tesco is still the cheapest, but not by as much as they used to be. Opening up the plastic cereal packet you'll find lots of lightweight, puffy little bits of cereal in this box. They're a very pale yellow colour, paler than the Kelloggs version are (which is the brand we've been accustomed to buying). But the real test comes when you taste these, and there's not too ...
