 ... Contents. 600g On pouring the soup into a bowl I was rather surprised not to see any pieces of smoked haddock. I could see a few kernels of sweetcorn and some green bits of basil. It was a creamy colour with the consistency of dishwater. Taste. It tasted creamy with a bit of garlic and had a slightly fishy taste like there had been fish in it once upon a time. Smell. Something not so Fishy. TESCO FINEST SMOKED HADDOCK AND SWEET POTATO CHOWDER,. I bought this soup as it was in the reduced section in Tescos for 53p. I have had chowders before and I always thought Chowders were thick hearty soups and thought it would be nice to have to eat with some crusty bread whilst watching my favourite soaps on TV. Packaging. A clear plastic tub with a label around the middle. It has a picture of smoked haddock, chunks of sweet potato and fresh green basil making it look quite attractive. Had I bothered to read the ingredients before buying this soup - I definitely wouldn't have bought it. So why did I bother? I was drawn to the packaging and the lovely looking picture of a Smoked Haddock and big chunks of Sweet Potato on the front of the Soup. I often buy fresh soups and for a change felt like trying a Fish chowder, as I tend to buy the more popular soups such as Chicken broth, Tomato and Basil, Leek and Potato etc. I came across Tesco Finest* Smoked Haddock & Sweet Potato Chowder in the chilled section of the Ready Made meals aisle.
