Advantages: Cheap and ok tasting

Disadvantages: Nothing special and it isn't huge!

I love spicy food and eat it quite regularly and if I'm having a nice curry I just love a nice naan to mop it all up with! This naan costing 63p seemed a really good buy and I wanted the whole thing to myself cos I was in a greedy mood (as per usual lol).

The Packaging:

Big plastic bag that is largely see through to the front of it and has a dark purple pattern on the rest of it and on the back. On the front I'm told it is Tesco 'Take Away' Mega Naan which is hand shaped and flame baked and contains no artificial flavours, colours or hydrogenated fat then at the bottom of the bag the best before date is stamped on, there is an at a glance nutritional chart on there and the weight is stated which is 220g. On the back of the bag cooking instructions are given along with storage advice, a full nutritional chart is give along with ingredients and allergy advice, a serving suggestion is given, contact details for Tesco are listed and finally there is a bar-code is there.

Heating Instrutions:

In the oven for 4-6 minutes 220C/400F/Gas Mark 6.
Grill - High Heat 2 minutes.

The Naan:

Cream in colour with a slight golden colour in patches, it's a large doughy, damp feeling bread that looks hand made and is rather thick. Easy enough to cook though if your grilling it you may have to (as I did) break it up to fit it all on to cook it all at once because after-all this is 'mega' size. I wouldn't call it mega though just large. So I grilled mine and it cooked through in about 3-4 minutes opposed to the cooking guidelines on the packet so if purchasing this do watch for that.

Taste wise it's ok. nothing special but was good enough really. It was bread like in taste with a hint of sourness to it (which is the yogurt which is an ingredient within it) but for me it missed a buttery taste although there is ghee in here. There were a few kalonji seeds in here (black flecks) but they didn't give much flavour to the bread as there wasn't (in my opinion) enough of them at all.

This bread also is rather flat. I didn't find it to rise at all as many naans breads do and it is rather heavy on the tummy however like I say it's nice enough, just nothing amazing! Economy buy this really is!

Allergy Advice:
Contains: Milk, wheat, gluten.
Recipe: No nuts.
Ingredients: Cannot guarantee nut free.
Factory: No nuts.

Nutritional Information Per Half Naan Bread:

Energy: 330 Kcals
Sugar: 1.3g
Fat: 12.7g
Saturates: 2.6g
Salt: 0.9g

Only available in Tesco Stores.

Summary: An ok naan but it won't blow your socks off or owt!
