... so basically a supermarket own brand under a different name. A bit like how the traditional discounters (Lidl, Aldi) do it. I normally buy supermarket own brand tin tomatoes which in Tesco are 55p for a 400g tin, these Trattoria tomatoes cost 41p for the same size so a saving of 14p or 25%. The tomato content is 60% with the balance made up of concentrated tomato juice and acidity regulator, the ingredients are identical in the 55p tin but the tomato content is slightly higher at 65%. Just to summarise what I've written in a previous review, I'm doing a "down brand" challenge in my supermarket shop and will review anything that I think represents really good or bad value. These Tinned Tomatoes are from Tesco's "Discount Brands" range. They are not labelled as Tesco and all have a different brand name "Trattoia Verdi" is the one they use for products which have an Italian feel (Pasta, Pasta sauces...).
