Trifle according to Wikipedia is a dessert made from thick custard, fruit, sponge cake, fruit juice or jelly and topped with cream. Once a popular treat at teatime on a Sunday, it is still a favourite at Christmas time but not often served the rest of the year. I decided that I would make one this weekend to use up the trifle sponges. It's nearly Christmas and I hope you've all got your trifle sponges ready! I always get a packet of Tesco Trifle Sponges as I usually make at least one trifle during the Christmas festivities and these gorgeous little things make life easy and taste great! The sponges come in a pack of eight at a cost of 54p for the pack which makes them just less than 7p each. They come packaged in a cardboard box which protects them and inside the box they are packaged in cellophane in two packs of four. I will probably be buying these trifle sponges for making a trifle this Christmas season. They are Tesco's trifle sponges in a packet of eight. This pack cost 54p that's 7p each .These are not the fingers I wrote about a few days ago but small rectangular sponges. The top of these sponges have a sugar coating. Now when I am making a trifle I often finding myself snaffling one of these sponges and eating it. Brings back childhood memories my mum often used to give me one of these when she was making a trifle. The sponges as I said are covered in a crisp sugar topping.
