Advantages: Easy to cook, cheap, simple packaging, tastes fairly nice.
Disadvantages: None
I am on a real cost-saving mission of late and trying to save the pennies wherever I can. This is a real bargain product for just 10p and I had one of these packets as part of my dinner this evening.
The packet is very simple, it's a white plastic bag with the Tesco value logo (blue, white & red) and a picture of some noodles on a fork. It's very basic packaging but then I'd rather have a cheaper price and a basic looking product than pay a premium for something that looks nice in my trolley.
Once the packet is opened there is a block of noodles and a sachet of the bacon flavouring (value flavouring apparently - no surprise there). I put the noodles in to a bowl and just pour over some hot water, I then break up the noodles more with a fork as they begin to soften under the hot water. Once they have been soaking for around five minutes I drain off half the water and then open the sachet (had to cut it as there did not seem to be a tear indent anywhere?!) and then poured this over the noodles and gave it a good mix around, left it for a couple more minutes and then just drained away the rest of the noodles and served them on a plate along with my chinese ribs (yum!).
The bacon flavouring was very strong and I could certainly smell it once mixed with the noodles. The noodles themselves were not as soft as they would normally be but I think perhaps this is because I do not have a microwave oven to use at my sisters so had to make do. These were quite tasty and the noodles were lovely and soft, they were not in the league of Super Noodles but at this price I think that they were perfectly fine. I will be buying them again because they are so cheap. There are 435 calories and 16.4g fat per packet so these are fairly high in fat but as I ate them as part of my main meal and ate healthy throughout the rest of the day I don't feel too guilty really. I am rating them 4/5 as the price is cheap, the packaging is basic but effective in keeping them 'fresh', the flavouring is perfectly ample and does actually taste quite like bacon & the noodles were soft. I have knocked off one star as these are really just slightly better than average but are not in the league of other noodles (but then they are more expensive).
Summary: A packet of noodles for my dinner.
