Advantages: cheap

Disadvantages: tasteless, hard, water

I have always in the past eaten Heinz Baked Beans or HP Baked Beans because my mum always gave them to us when we were kids. But when tesco decided to to Value Baked beans for 9p I thought that as they were so cheap I would give them a try. With two hungry children to feed saving pennies was important. WHAT A MISTAKE!!!!

The sauce is very watery and is more tomato flavoured than actually made with tomatoes, and the beans themselves, which only filled half the tin, appeared to be undercooked as they were always a hard or crunchy texture.

I persisted with for a while as they were inexpensive and the kids seemed to like them, until one day I decided to give the kids (and me) and treat and my HP beans. After that there was no getting the kids to go back the value ones.

They may be cheap at only 9p but I would rather pay the extra now and enjoy my beans on toast.
