Beans on the Cheap (Tesco Value Baked Beans)
Member Name: cathodbach
Advantages: Cheap Disadvantages: A bit watery Whenever I shop in Tescos, I always put a dozen cans of these in my trolley. I remember a time not so long ago when they went right down to 3p a can - everywhere in my house there was a stash of baked beans. Then they went up to 9p and remained 9p for ages. Now they are up to 12p or something like that, but still, they're a bargain. You geta whole 420 grms for your money, and they're great on toast simply because they have so much liquid in them that the liquid softens the toast and you can really taste the beans. The flavour, too, is pretty good. Looking at the ingredients, they're not so healthy, but what can you expect for 12p? On the down side, they're a bit watery. They could have included a few more beans and a bit less juice, and I must say that there are other equivalent 12p. cans of beans out there which are much better than these. All the same, you get what you pay for; they're perfectly edible and with a pile of toast you can have a good feed for 50p. Not bad when you're on the poverty line. Yes, I shall continue to buy! Summary: Value for money beans. |
