I am not a huge fan of baked beans, but I wil eat them now and again. I had only ever had Heinz before, but one evening my dad had brought me a tin of Tesco Value baked beans.
Packaging:
The beans come in a fairly tall rounded tin. Around it there is a basic white label with the tesco value red and blue logo on it. Baked Beans is written in the middle, and there is a picture of beans on the front of it. It is very basic but it does the job and informs you well.
Taste:
You can eat beans hot or cold and I always have them hot. So I heated it up in the microwave and I was ready to eat. The sauce it was in did not look overly thick and was quite pale, as were the beans. Nonetheless I shoveleed my fork in and tasted some. To my surprise they had quite a strong flavour, much stronger than I had imagined anway. It was not a rich tomato flavour, but something else I could not place my finger on. They were definitely delicious! I ate them with toast but you can have them in many other ways eg with chips or on their own!
Nutrition:
Beans may be low fat in general, but theyre not reallylow calories. You can consume about 400 calories with this tin alone, which for beans is quite a lot! They are tasty and are okay now and again, but are not something I would have every day.
Price:
The tesco value range is known for being cheap, and these beans live up to the expectations. A single tin will cost you 29p. It is definitely worth paying, considering a Heinz tin of the same size would be 56p - almost double! They are definitely worth it!
These are delicious, a lot nicer than I thought, and are definitely worth trying next time you want beans!
