Advantages: Its Cheap

Disadvantages: Its cheap for a pretty obvious reason, it tastes horrible.

Tesco Value Baked Beans

Presentation: It looks cheap with blue stripes on a white background and the words Tesco Value in bright red, this really doesn't look too sharp and immediately gives a poor image of the product.

Price: I bought a couple recently for 25p a tin, this is fairly good value, although not as cheap as Asda or Lidl's, I bought these to test them out and am glad I did as at least I now know what I think of them.

Nutritional Information Per Can:

Calories: 210
Sugar: 17.2g
Fat: 1.2g
Saturates: 0.4g
Salt: 2.6g

My Opinion:

Being honest I am looking to enjoy the value products where possible as they will save me money, so I used these two tins of beans in varying ways to test them out, using the first tin I had beans on toast, this is an easy and filling dish, but the beans ruined it for me, the sauce is undeniably sweet and i'm not sure why and this ruined the flavour of the dish for me, it was unpleasant and very very sweet, as the information suggests a tin gives 210 calories and you don't even get any enjoyment with it.

For the second meal, I braised some sausages, and onions placed them in an ovenware dish, poured over Canellini and baked beans and cooked for 30 minutes, again the sweet flavour of the baked beans overpowered the other flavours and ruined what would have been a nice meal, due to this I will pay extra for proper baked beans in future and don't plan to buy these cheap poor quality wannabes in the future.

Being brutally honest, the beans are horrible and have a distinctive awful sweet flavour, the sauce is runny and sweet and the taste overpowers even strong expensive sausages, adding worcester sauce only makes a difference if you empty half a bottle over your plate!

Summary: Pretty gruesome flavour that can ruin even the easiest dish
