Advantages: cheap
Disadvantages: ?/
Basic beans, Tesco value only 9p. Yes they are cheap. These tins are readily available at Tesco’s. Stacked in the aisles with other branded baked beans. They tempted me first a few years ago. The tin is plain, the white label with blue markings and TesoValue in red, no picture to identify the contents so may these may not be any use for a person unable to read English. The tin contains 420g Contents are listed on tin, as are storage and cooking instructions and nutritional information. 100g= 78 cal. The tin I am looking at has a long unopened storage life April 2005. So what do they taste like? Well they taste like beans in tomato sauce. The sauce is not too sweet , a little runny but ok. The beans are soft but they do not fall to pieces. Fine to accompany eggs , chips, sausage . Or just put on toast for a snack. If I have made a sausage casserole I will add a tin of these beans sometimes as filler. Ok these beans are not exotic. But they are easy to cook I prefer to cook mine in the microwave (no burnt on pans then) Most kids like them, so they are a safe bet if you are entertaining children and you are unsure of their food likes. Beans are fairly nutritional so ideal to pack for your student who is just leaving home and needs a basic store cupboard to survive the first week s of life away from mums cooking. These beans are easily heated on a camping gaz when camping in the wilds. Or can even be eaten cold if necessary. Well I think I have finished. Tesco value beans are ok for that cheap easy meal most like. Best wishes Good eating thanks for reading Mary
