It is inevitable that any value baked beans are going to be compared to the almighty king of the food stuff - Heinz. Whilst I did notice a very slight decline in quality from those beans, these still go well with a burger and chips in particular, as well as a variety of other meals. Nutritional Information (per tin): Protein = ... Read the complete review

Our food shopping bill has almost doubled in the last year or so and we are always looking for offers and supermarket version that are as good as the branded product which save a bit of money. This is often the case as rather than using expensive or excessive packaging etc the supermarkets use bog standard basic packaging that meets necessary ... Read the complete review

Being only 29p you look at the tin and think should I or should I not at these hard economic times would I give up Hienz for these lets see. The initial look of the tin is the usual Tesco Value layout, red, white and blue plain and simple. Anyways to the main part the actual beans itself. They look the same as any beans but the tomato ... I am not a huge fan of baked beans, but I wil eat them now and again. I had only ever had Heinz before, but one evening my dad had brought me a tin of Tesco Value baked beans. Packaging: The beans come in a fairly tall rounded tin. Around it there is a basic white label with the tesco value red and blue logo on it. Baked Beans is ... Read the complete review

If you stop and look at the packaging and like that to look pretty then you're probably not looking to keep the shopping cheap lets be honest. Me personally, I like my food cheap and cheerful but still tasting nice. Tesco value beans are in my opinion as nice - if not nicer - than many of the more expensive beans you can buy in the ... Beans; what would a student do without them. Probably smell better but thats another story... We all know Heinz baked beans (or beanz if your cool), we know that they taste nice and we know that they are rather expensive compared to own brand beans. When the price is compared, and the taste is compared, tesco own brand beans some out ... Read the complete review

Baked beans are a staple in my cupboard. I could eat them all day long, on their own or with a good fry up, on a jacket potato, on toast, with chicken breast, added to a chilli con carne, with fish fingers... with everything if you get my point. I have probably tried each and every well known brand available in the UK. Tesco Value Baked Beans ... Read the complete review

Tesco Value Beans After sampling some other Tesco value products, I thought I'd give the forerunner to the value range a try. In my local tesco, theyare 29p a tin, which is not the cheapest value bean, but is far cheaper than many of the branded items. The tin has the usual value blue stripes and no picture, but its whats inside that ... Read the complete review

Sometimes in life I am not fussed about whether my beans are HP, Branston, Heinz or whatever - although admittedly Heinz Baked Beans are the best. If I am out and about on a shop and feeling not particularly rich in a particular week. I am going to plump for the value items. Now lets be honest about this! When you want that good old ... More reviews on my quest for good and bad value products across our supermarkets. The latest product to be tried in our house was the value baked bean - I must confess I don't actually like baked beans so this is review is based on the comments from my children and my husband. I usually buy my beans from Asda but I haven't done a big shop for a little while and I'm trying to avoid it until pay day. I ran out of beans a few days a go so had to pick up a couple whilst I was in Tesco's. The store I visited was a little Metro one so there isn't a vast amount of choice on the shelf. When I got to where the beans were, to my ... Read the complete review

What can you say about an own brand label of baked beans? Well, Tesco Value Baked Beans are just what it says on the tin. They're baked beans and they are incredibly good value for money. I've tried all sorts and varieties of baked beans in my time. The "Beanz Meanz Heinz" variety, Batchelors, and almost every multifarious ... Read the complete review

When you really think about it, it's a fairly bizarre concept. Why would you put a haricot bean in tomato sauce? Whoever first thought of this idea is a genius and should be worshipped. I can imagine this chap or chapess feverishly trying combinations of beans and sauces; kidney beans and BBQ sauce, nope, broad beans in HP sauce, not quite.. ... Read the complete review

Tesco Value Baked Beans: 420g of tomato syrup Let me start by saying, I am not swayed by the packaging: In these straitened times, who can afford to be? Actually, as I put these in my trolley, I find the sight of the blue and white stripes quite reassuring, and feel that warm glow that comes from being "careful". Not tight, ... After finding tins of Heinz Baked Beans in our local supermarket on offer, my boyfriend and I have been spoiled for beans over the last few weeks. When the packs ran out, we were slightly concerned about going back to the Value tins that had been gathering dust in the cupboard, as the plain tins with their thin white labels and sparse printing ... When I go shopping, I like to buy a lot of their won branded products, and not just because they are cheaper, but also because more times than not, I think that they are better than the more expensive one's. Tesco's own branded baked beans are one of my favourites, and they are always on the shopping list. I must point out though that I also buy ... Read the complete review

I have tried all the supermarket own brand of beans but have to say that not one of them is a patch on the real deal - Heinz. I go through a spell every so often and think that perhaps they will improve their recipes to keep up with the market leaders but am always dissapointed. Well I gave these a go the other week and I have to say that I was not that impressed but they are not so horrendous that you would not ever want to use them in something. I feel if one wants to eat these on their own, like as beans on toast then you are better off going for a slightly higher market brand. The sauce is very watery and that makes ... These Tesco Value Baked beans are ridiculously cheap, even by Tesco Value standards they are cheap. The tin I purchased was something like 14 pence (at time of writing). Which is a silly price for 420g. Now I know what you are thinking, beans often meanz something elsez (if you see what I mean). An usually own brands fall very short of ... Read the complete review
