... mix for use making pancakes or in things like toad in the hole. The first time I purchaed it it was for use making pancakes. In my local supermarket it's usually priced at 12p per pack but it can vary slightly. Whenever I have used it it has always given me good results. When I've used it for pankcakes (providing they're cooked right) they have always tasted good & the packet tends to make 6-8 of them depending on how big / thick you make them. My wife has also used them to make Yorkshire puddings & again...more

Premium Review Tesco Value Batter Mix: The best batter (391 words)

I decided yesterday that I wanted to make Toad in the Hole as it is a firm favourite in our house but the ready meals seem to be loaded with fat. However, I didnt have time to make the batter from scratch and plus I couldnt be bothered so when I saw this batter mix in Tesco for just 8p I thought I'd try this. Now, I have to admit I didnt think this would be much good at 8p and I was rather sceptical. Incase your wondering, this can be found near the custard and desserts (I had trouble finding it!). The packet when mixed up has enough to make 12 yorkshire puddings or in my case, a Toad in the Hole approx 12 inches by 10 inches. Making the batter is easy, ...  Read the complete review

I first discovered Tesco value batter mix one Pancake Day years ago, and ever since then, this product has become a staple item in my cupboard. This batter mix is found in the baking aisle and retails at 9p for 128g, and so compared to today's prices for flour, I think that I would struggle to make my own for less money. I think that it is fantastic value for money, and the no nonsense convenience makes it worth every penny. I use this mix to make pancakes and Yorkshire puddings, and the instructions are clear for both on the back of the packet. Essentially you simply have to add cold water and an egg and whisk - it couldn't be any simpler! ...  Read the complete review

I was walking around tesco's the other day and decided I wanted some pancakes that night and didn't want to have to mess about making the mixture myself. Now some may say this is lazy, pancakes aren't the hardest of things to make after all but I came accross this mixture on the shelves of my local store for just 8p!!!! Wow, I thought and promptly picked one up to see what needed to be done. All you need on top of this pack is 1 egg and 250 ml of water and a very strong arm to whisk it all up and get rid of those dreaded lumps! I promptly popped a bag in my trolly and thought i'd give it a go. Some people may argue that you would have all the ingredients in ...  Read the complete review

I've been on a mission for a few months now trying to save on my weekly shopping bill by adding a few Tesco Value products into my basket. I've had some nice surprises & this Batter Mix was one of them & I'd recommend it to everyone who likes making Yorkshire Puds or pancakes the easy way. The packet is different to the one shown in the photo - it still has the Value colurs & logo but looks more attractive as it has a picture of 3 golden brown Yorkshires & peas on the front. Not only does the 128g pack make up delicious batter but it costs only 8p per pack (plus you only need to add 1 egg) - you can't buy much for 8p these ...  Read the complete review

I shop at Tesco for 90% of my food shopping & very rarely go to another supermarket simply because Tesco is the nearest. Because of this I'm very familiar with the Tesco Value range & buy quite a few products from the range & most of them are are good quality. This is another product from the range that I would be more than happy to recommend. It is a multi-purpose batter mix for use making pancakes or in things like toad in the hole.
