Advantages: Cheap and a decent sized portion

Disadvantages: Not particularly nice

All we're hearing at the moment is 'credit crunch' this and 'credit crunch' that, so a lot of people will find themselves cutting down on most things they buy, or going for a cheaper option. Tesco have a very good range of 'value' products, of which I probably sampled most when I was a student a few years back.

One of the products I used to get every now and then was this one: Tesco value baked beans & sausages. Heinz do a rather nice version which is made using better quality sausages, beans and sauce, but for those wanting to eat this cheaper, this isn't a bad option to go for.

Tesco value beans on their own are as you would expect: the beans and the sauce don't taste as rich and flavoursome as perhaps a more expensive version would, and the same is the case with the beans & sausages. The sausages themselves are a lower quality as well, as you would expect, and there aren't that many in the tin, but again, you pay what you get for.

Ultimately, this product is definitely of an inferior quality. They taste fake, the sausages in particular, and you should only really consider this as an option if you're REALLY cutting down, as it it's not that good. As a price comparison, at 36p it's roughly half the price of the Heinz tin or a Branston tin, and you get a bit more in tin as well, and although it's passable in terms of taste, you're only likely to buy this if you're really not fussed at all. I can't give this a high rating, but it's cheap and ultimately that's a bonus these days.

Summary: Only get this version if you're really cutting down on your budget
