... Smartprice which is 76p for a 750g box. I love the fact that the box is so big because I eat big portions and hate it when you have had two bowls and you can see the crumbs in the bottom. The flakes themselves are rather large and considering they are so cheap they are really thick as well. They are brown in colour but if you look closely you can see the odd white 'fleck' here and there. They don't really smell of anything in particular, just that nice bran scent that you get with most bran flakes. As for the taste te...more

I love cereal and usually buy the cheap Smartprice version of Bran flakes which I am more than happy with. I had plenty of cereal in the cupboard so this was more of an impulse buy just to see if they were better or worse than the ones I am used to. The box is very off putting and definitely doesn't shout 'class' at all but who cares? It's the contents that we are eating here not the box! On a positive note, it is recyclable so make sure you get it in your green bin once you're done with the contents! The bran flakes cost the same as Asda Smartprice which is 76p for a 750g box. Generally I am not particularly a morning person - waking up and getting dressed is about my limit before eight o'clock. Therefore, I sometimes struggle getting to breakfreak, especially if the cereal I am currently eating isn't exciting or edible. So, when I decided to try a super market own brand of one of my classic, "boring but yummy" cereals - the All Bran - I was surprised with the outcome. Packaging The box is classically recognisable as a budget, supermarket brand product. It is clean, simple and avoids any fussiness, simple stating the name, the brans, five words of description and the nutritional information on the front. ...  Read the complete review

As you may be aware ( that is if you have read any of my other reviews and if not WHY?) my youngest is going away to Uni in two days boo hoo! so like a mad woman I'm making up food boxes left, right and centre. All the family tell me that I'm feeding just one and not the entire Uni, but mums will be mums. So after hubby saw the sixth large box of food on the dining room floor this morning, knowing that I haven't finished just yet ( I've still got 2 days left after all!) He went to work and phoned the hire van centre and changed the small van for a large Transit instead. Now having worked out that if I do different boxes for different foods he will find what he ...  Read the complete review

I'm really loving these flakes. I am a breakfast person through and through. I wake up early and I celebrate with a lovely breakfast on my own. Therefore, breakfast needs to be a meal I really enjoy. I am also engaged in an ongoing food discussion with my daughter (health, body image, additives, etc) so it was with some interest I saw that she arrived home one day with a giant pack of these. She had scrutinised the packet and decided that it was relatively a low calorie food and having read in a mag that bran filled you up for longer - she bought the Bran Flakes. I scrutinised the packet and found that the ingredients were highly ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Tesco Value Bran Flakes: Good value bran flakes indeed (322 words)

These are my top bargain buy at the moment! Now, for those of you who have never tried bran flakes, they aren't the tastiest of cereals. In fact, when I took these into work to eat I was greeted by looks ranging from curiosity to repulsion! However, I can't eat anything sweet first thing in the morning (yuk) and so bran flakes are actually my favourite tasting cereal, as well as being good for you. Having decided to take the plunge and try the Tesco's value instead of their own brand, I am pleased to report that there is no difference whatsoever in the taste of the two cereals. I had imagined that these would be drier and more 'cardboardy' (not a ...  Read the complete review
